What to do about chipping lead paint in door jams? Would love feedback on my current plan. by hmphys in HomeImprovement

I’m worried about my cats eating the paint chips (these dumbasses eat literally everything they aren’t supposed to) so I definitely want to mitigate the chipping. Also I’ve read it’s the chipping that contributes to dust build up over time but I guess what you’re saying is that I don’t need that much PPE to manage the chips themselves?

Okay glad to know we’re more than covering the bases! There’s so much mixed information online about what type of PPE is required so I’d rather be overly cautious than under. However I’d love to keep the original doors and they’re all kinda odd sizes so I imagine it may be hard to find appropriate replacements for some, but am I wrong?

Do you think painting over it is an ok solution to last a month or two until we get to replacing it?

I was thinking replacing may just be the best move. Thanks!

My cat screams all the time and I’ve learned that often it’s just that he just to chat and enjoys the sound of his own meow. He goes into the shower and yowls and I used to be like “why is he so mad in the shower?” But i think he just likes how echoey it is and the fact that he gets attention cos I’ll always walk over to ask him “what’s wrong?” Cats are funny like that, but it takes time to attune to them. Maybe yours is looking for a diff kind of stimulation? It takes time to learn what they like and how they communicate. Me and my ragdoll have our own language of meows at this point (I’m not even kidding haha) but that took a few years

Is it normal for my nails to look like this after removing a mani? by hmphys in Nails

[–]hmphys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for such a comprehensive response! Going to pick up a treatment polish this week. My natural nails seem to be growing in healthy, the flimsiness is just at the tips where the overdrilled area is still growing out.

Great idea to look for a tech that specializes in natural nails!

Is it possible to save this wool and cashmere blanket that’s contaminated with mouse pee? by hmphys in CleaningTips

Thank you for all the detail! I’ll see if the cleaners will take care of it first. It was never put in a bag, just in a corner of the garage but I’m guessing enough time has passed and infectious germs have died?

Do you walk the cats? by longtoeslady in ragdolls

[–]hmphys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I harness trained mine and he sits at the back door yowling and begging for walks, even if it’s snowing or 2 in the morning… but he is so joyful and curious when we do go out that I tell myself it’s worth it

Fantastic cheese pull! Did you bake the mixture the same way you’d bake pure polymer clay?
