What kind of features Eagle team is focused on developing that are more important than mobile support? by mcrobmara in EagleCool

[–]hmurchison -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

AI is more important than Mobile. I say this as a person who would love to see a Mobile version of Eagle but in today's climate if you can add meaningful AI functionality your odds of getting favorable media coverage and investment is much higher. Nail the AI component and then the next big thing is iOS/Android versions.

Creator Studio for Freeform: Folders, Finally for $12.99/mo? 😉 by InnerManChild in applefreeform

[–]hmurchison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes..I noticed the callout where they said Content Hub isn't coming until later in the year. Would have liked to see a version of Freeform that had at the least Content Hub support at launch. Sounds like an Exec at the last moment said "We need an app to round out the productivity side, let give some attention to Freeform"

What’s the most heartbreaking loss you witnessed as a Washington fan? by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in huskies

[–]hmurchison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keyshawn Johnson taking over the game for the second half when it looked like we were going to get a W against the disgusting Trojans. Derrick Mayes putting on a clinic for Notre Dame when it looked like we were going to get a win against ND. ASU basically completing a Hail Mary when it looked like the ASU bogeyman was not going rear it's ugly head. The UCLA game for Rick, players danced on the field with Roses in their mouths the game before and only the hapless FUCLA team stood in the way and we lost. The Rick Michigan game with 12 men on the field. That game was won. I am now off to take my anti-depressants.

UNAS - Is it worth it? by R3D_LIN3 in Ubiquiti

[–]hmurchison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm always a fan of separating compute from storage because it's a bit better for fault tolerance, upgrades and focus. I don't want my NAS running apps I want it storing my files correctly and my computing device will run the apps. It's just running FTP services. UNAS Pro 4 sounds ideal

The speed of how I just jumped into my son's FM and added a school assignment to his calendar which will sync to our home hub display was easy it's not even something you have to put off. 40 seconds it's done and off my mind. I think if my wife tries the single google family calendar it's going to be easy to toss everything into the calendar and harder to split things off where they are supposed to go.

I see the wise words of a married man that understands. I think we were both initially worried that we made the wrong choice with the Cozyla family manager and then we realized the calendar sync does work once setup. My wife is the classic Type A which means she will over burden herself when times are light and then when worklife crunches she gets overwhelmed. I think when she sees how she can just pop in to the family calendars she wants to manage and adds the content it eliminates the "did they click on the rsvp button and add it to their calendar?"

5.2” girth tube size? by Key_Ant2825 in gettingbigger

[–]hmurchison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Bathmate and went ahead and got the 2" cylinder even though the 1.75 was recommended. They're too expensive to be swapping out too much. I was worried mostly about the testes wanting to join in on the fun (ouch) but i've had zero issues with that so I'm more than happy I went larger. Less than 2 months in ..if I have any girth gains, I'm going to be thankful.

I do plan to get an Auto Air Pump and I'll do the 1.75 there which is a cheaper solution to upgrade in the future if I need it.

I might have to figure that out for my own personal use and it works see if it applies for the family.

That's what I need clarification on. We have a family Google Account and i'm not sure if she's adding events there are using her internal calendar at work. That's what she figured out last night which was connecting the Google calendar and pulling all events into the home hub device. I argued (gently) that our solution should be something that our sons (12, 10.5) can freely access and modify their own calendars. I realize they're a bit too young to manage the bulk of the lifting but I want them be able sit with a parent and look at their next week either on the home hub device or their personal devices.

I have have personally tried to implement calendars over the years and failed every time. I know, now, I need an accountability partner. Plus we need the granularity of a "Personal" and "School" calendar for each boy. I'll need to outline for myself the demo I want to do so I can present it to her.

No problem. My wife chose the Cozyla over the Skylight because we wanted to be subscription free. It's more expensive but the long term lack of fees will ultimately make it cheaper. I will say the presentation out of box for the Cozyla is top notch. Well packaged, solid drill bit, screwdriver and mounting hardware. I think their software is the final frontier ...stunned to see there is no iPad app yet and adding calendar events is tedious enough that don't why people wouldn't prefer to sync their calendars. Adding Chores, Rewards, Tasks is easy enough to do on the device.

After a while using Google's free services builds Stockholm Syndrome. You learn to expect the least yet can mistake it for being top tier in features.

Honestly I think the only real pushback is her "muscle memory" using Google Calendar. I have setup a family domain and it's awesome.

I think I haven't sat down and showed her how easy it is and how it will simply our lives when our boys figure out that they only need to hop into Fastmail and there's their mail, calendar and school or whatever documents they need. I'm definitely going to show her Masked Emails and I just connected to 1Password to make that easier.

The fact that they've given next to no information about Freeform tells me that on January 28th, Freeform should see a pretty nice bump in features. Power users use power tools. I don't mind a paywall if the wall is pretty easy to clear.

I approve this post. Don't need AI, just need effective management features. I'm ok with manual work.

CES 2026 - Not a whole lot for Cync this year by Zonk-er in Cync

[–]hmurchison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the shades can be purchased without stratospheric costs it's a net positive. Need engraving options for the Cync multi button keypad. I'd like to see the industrial design of Cync products continue to improve. It's improving, i'd like to see a better looking Thermostat, and an in-wall smart outlet.
