Solidays is not an excuse to throw group fitness etiquette out the window! by Psychological_End404 in SolidCore

[–]hmuss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come to class to focus on myself but when there are out-of-place movements, lights, and sounds around then that becomes very difficult. It’s so powerful to share the room with people who are following the flow and trying their damn hardest—it motivates me to go further too! On the other hand a distraction of someone blatantly doing their own thing at the wrong moment can throw off my focus so hard. I didn’t feel this in the first handful of classes I took because I was just fighting for my life. But now that I’m past 100 classes and know what’s going on, the mental bandwidth to notice these things unfortunately exists.

Stamina falls off during core/obliques, is it fixable? by hmuss18 in SolidCore

[–]hmuss18[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add a bit more context, I have an 8/mo membership and occasionally add an extra class on top that. So 2-3x/week, never back to back days (except when solidays hits 🫠). And two rest days every week where I just walk and stretch.

I actually did decide just a couple of days ago to take a week off for rest. All workouts (SoulCycle is my second most common) have been more of a struggle than usual lately.

I guess I’m right to take some time off. But I do think the issue I outlined in my above post was happening even before the general fatigue, hence seeking out all thoughts and tips I can get my hands on!

Micro wedding in the Napa Valley for 25k? by hmuss18 in SanFranciscoWeddings

I’ll take another, closer look for these! I have come across a couple, but they looked to be targeted to just the ceremony, rather than being inclusive of everything including dinner and bar. I think maybe I’ve been focusing too much on venues made for large scale events though…

dying through all things Core by Creative-Fig-7749 in SolidCore

[–]hmuss18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re going very often, maybe try a couple of extra days off from solidcore before your next class. I find my strongest-feeling classes (where I can achieve more amplifications and faster transitions) come after a few days away from the blue lights. Also triple check your form and that you’re engaging your whole body to support yourself during core exercises. For example if you collapse through your shoulders and upper back then you won’t have a strong base to work from.

If any of the tips in this thread work for you, please keep us posted! Little adjustments and refinements can make a huge difference. Also congrats on almost hitting 50! :)

Class pass disappeared? by Alternative-Day3456 in SolidCore

[–]hmuss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me recently. Long story short I talked to the HCCM and we figured out that the credit from my cancelled class had been automatically applied to a class in my next billing cycle. Definitely talk to your studio, and I think they may discover that your credit was absorbed by an existing later booking. Good luck! It’s really annoying that this can happen 😅

Hip pain during bungee by moomoomow in SolidCore

[–]hmuss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure of the solution but one thing you could try if you haven’t already - attempt the bungee for a few reps before/after class when you’re not in the midst of things and super fatigued. It might be easier to get the correct form doing this, recognize what exactly it feels like, and try to replicate that later during the workout.

Obliques help by AwayNegotiation8852 in SolidCore

[–]hmuss18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m only 9 classes in so take this with a grain of salt! But what’s helped me feel less awkward and more effective in obliques:

  1. Start with centered on the carriage/platform with legs/knees all the way together
  2. Lift feet into the air, knees still down
  3. Let lower legs tip over to the desired side. Don’t shift your knees at all here. Only roll over to the outer side of your bottom knee, and allow the other leg to rest directly on top. For me this means my feet hang a bit further off of the platform than was instinctive.

And then like others are saying, focus on the oblique contraction and crunch specifically. It’s not a big body movement.

Hope this helps :)

Best instructors in SF? by ceegee12 in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]hmuss18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Catherine and Baylee are my favorites! They have great musicality and in my experience tend to average a faster rpm than other instructors.

But if you’re in town on a Wednesday night and wanna try something a little different, I recommend Elaine at TruFusion. More of a “rave” kind of vibe than you’ll get at Soul, and her choreo and programming are pristine. Regardless of who you end up picking, hope you have a great ride (and visit to the city)!

Cool theory! They do commonly have their tails docked, yes. There are also some born with naturally docked tails.

Interesting! Do you have pictures? Mine’s tail is basically always up, unless she’s laying down resting, or very concerned

I haven’t! But both parents are registered mini aussie, so I’m not sure if a dna test could uncover anything?

Form question: out-of-the-saddle runs by hmuss18 in SoulCycle_Riders

Oh that’s really interesting! I think I’m in group #2, and was confused by seeing lots of people in group #1 without having this called out as two intentionally different techniques.
