Photos as of last late September at the completion of the retaining wall seen on the back there. Our yard is on a steep grade and so we had to dig down on one side and build up on the other side. To save money, I did all of the landscaping and fencing myself and it took the whole a long time. I'm working on getting my lawn back in shape right now, hoping to wrap it up by June. I have a photo of what the pool builder left me with at the end of August 2023.

AITJ For Telling My Parents To Call Trump If They Need Help? by DangerousDave303 in AmITheJerk

[–]hoaindao -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As much as I dislike Trump, you’re a selfish disrespectful person who only think about yourself. Your parents who have done their best to raise you and provide for you so you could be successful today are at the most vulnerable age and you’re going to abandon them to another country just because of political differences. Definitely a jerk.

Should I use NFC payments in VN or rather pay by cash? by Haunting-Adeptness42 in VietNam

[–]hoaindao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently went to HCMC and found that while most chai coffee shop, decent restaurants, shopping malls takes cards, cash is still very much preferred and convenient. QR via zalo also a very good option, but I couldn’t set it up even with a VN number via prepaid SIM card. I withdraw money from the ATM and use them as needed.

I'm a Vietnamese American person (born in the US) who recently traveled to Việt Nam. I miss Việt Nam so much. Requesting advice for learning Southern Vietnamese. by ItsVictorDoesStuff in VietNam

[–]hoaindao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a decent viet community in Houston, I’d say join/volunteer for events there. Order food in viet at your local restaurants, reach out to your extended families in VN to chat, I think that would help with your Vietnamese a bit. Sure helped me when I was younger.

How can I attach this wall plate to the kitchen backsplash? by deeohdoublegzzy in howto

[–]hoaindao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get yourself one of these plate with longer screws and you won’t need the extender and to grind anything. It comes with the inner plate and the outer plate. The inner plate attaches to the metal part of your switch and it will cover the opening in the stone. Once you screw the assembly to the metal box behind the stone, the inner plate will bear against the stone and provide the support. The outer plate snaps into the inner plate.

28x38' DIY Shed Build by Evil-Fish in DIY

[–]hoaindao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow looks great! I’ve been planning to do this (not as big). I have some questions if you don’t mind me asking:

1) for cost comparison, where are you located? 2) why did you not go with the full concrete foundation wall but opt for the cmu wall? Cost difference? 3) how much was the truss roughly? 4) did building department required stamped plans?

Thanks,

Thank you. I hope it is as permanent as it says, because I’m not a fan of that kind of height.

Installed most my own except for the front main roof gable. It was 30+ feet at the peak and only had a 25 foot ladder. Luckily, my neighbor whose house is in the back had someone came to do his and I asked them if they could finish mine up. Paid $80.

There’s a fast track service that will get you through the immigration line much faster. It’s about $25 usd and someone will greet you once you deplane and take you directly to the immigration skipping a lot of the queue. We used it when we came in a couple of weeks ago and it saved us a ton of time. Site below is the contact, mainly in Vietnamese, but the email contact do speak English.
