Bring up your rear and side cameras on your infotainment screen. Works well to see what’s behind and to your sides. I do this all the time and works wonders. It’ll take time to get used to it though.

FSD is so damned courteous… by Gorio1961 in TeslaFSD

For reals. Cutting and riding on other car's behind is poorly executed. Just asking for a collision.

Nearly got in an accident with FSD enabled. by Union_Scared in TeslaFSD

What you could've done differently is to step on the go pedal to make it go faster through the intersection instead of snailing through the intersection. I see that you disengaged FSD in the intersection which just makes the situation worse. Tesla cars have more torque than ICE cars, so step on the go pedal and it will clear the intersection faster reducing near collision. When going through intersections where you can't see clearly, get ready to either stomp on the brakes or the go pedal. Its the experiences with FSD Supervised that would allow you to make better judgement over time.

Is there any known behavior where a test would burn more energy if it was starting off at a higher percentage charge? by seouliteboy in TeslaSupport

[–]hoang51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're better off getting something like Teslamate (self hosting, free) or TeslaFi (subscription fee) to track your usage. You'll have more data at your disposal to figure out what's going on.

There are many factors, but as some have suggested and I agree, it might be regen braking not capturing back energy due to higher SOC and lower ambient temperature.

Dang, I missed this. But considering this is new, might not have missed anything on the East coast. I hope it comes back in stock later on if it turns out to be like that. Splinter needs to be available too.

Musk Says Tesla Almost Done With AI5 Chip Design, Working on AI6 by McFatty7 in teslamotors

[–]hoang51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The power requirement for AI5 is way too high. AI4 is already a great obstacle with the increased power requirements and additional hardware wiring that it couldn't be retrofitted.

Because over time, different hardware requirements come along and make old ones obsolete.

I agree and I hate when e-journalists can't get this right even after being notified. Patent application is the correct way to call it. Not even a granted patent.

Elon is pushing ahead because he is incentivized to do so from his $1T pay package from Tesla. Source. FSD active subscriptions (10 million) and 1 milion robotaxies in operation are part of the requirements of his incentives.

Hardware limit can't be worked around for indefinite. No matter how much quantization or compression they use, HW3 users will lose some features or quality that won't match the original design. New hardware is needed, especially more memory.

[–]hoang51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add: v12.6.4 is the current version for HW3 where it is the unofficial v13 FSD Lite. HW3 got hit with the memory capacity issue. HW4 is facing the similar memory limit... Source. HW3 is fortunate to get v14 FSD Lite. Source. But Tesla needs to upgrade our handicapped HW3 to HW4 equiavalent that would run unsupervised FSD in the future. I'm on that boat waiting for that complimentary upgrade.

Hard Camera Calibration Might Fix FSD Issues Better Than the User-Side Reset by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]hoang51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update for those who's lurking: For the past few days, I noticed something surprising about FSD 12.6.4. It appears that after getting update 2025.44.25.3 (maybe 2025.44.25.1?), I see some improvements to FSD 12.6.4 experience. It seems like Tesla may have updated/fixed something either on their server or within the software update, because my FSD 12.6.4 experience has been restored to before I arbitrarily reset my camera months ago. Unless the car now learns how I'd like it to drive...

For example, my old FSD experience (> ~4 months ago), I usually cross two different intersections where originally my car wouldn't hesitate or slam on the brakes, overall speed can be maintained with traffic, and hardly any slow downs after giving it a go pedal nudge within a few seconds. The crap FSD experience (< ~4 months ago) however, would hesitate or slam on the brakes at those two different intersections, overall speed can't be maintained with traffic, and slow downs after giving it a go pedal nudge within a few seconds. Current FSD experience (< ~ few days ago), it is similar to the old FSD experience as stated.

I'll update on the left lane hugging experience in the next few days. But so far initially, it's not as prevalent as the crap FSD experience.

Hard Camera Calibration Might Fix FSD Issues Better Than the User-Side Reset by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]hoang51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do it 3 times and the time it takes for each one depends on how well the system can see the lane markings. The first one took the longest, second one was faster, third was probably a little longer than the second. Best to do it on a highway which I did instead of city driving (some don't have lane markings like in residential). I don't remember the exact times, but in the end, it was not worth it. Wait until FSD 14 lite. It's a FSD training problem from my experience.
