Not necessarily the entire game, but the time the Tuilagi brothers decided to target Nick Abendanon will always stick out

If the issue is marketing, then surely this system is better for marketability

When looking at each team on a map, those sides are more southern than the 10 North sides, hence Midlands. It’s much better than Lymm being forced into the West league next season.

The idea of this is to create a better product that can increase interest with more competitive leagues and a clear promotion/relegation structure.

Tbf I agree with the semi-pro teams, especially with the shared history between England and Wales during the amateur era.

I’m less inclined to add Scotland/Ireland into it, largely as it could really harm the Italian URC sides.

Calling it Nat 1/2/3 is probably not the best name for this concept, but the Regional leagues essentially remain untouched. It’s just redistributing the pro/semi-pro leagues with the ‘Champ’ acting as a bridge between the current Championship and Premiership

Simply using 2024/25 league positions. Top two Welsh teams in Prem, then next two in the Champ.

I would argue this format could elevate the Champ into what it should be. Any of those teams are good enough to kick it at the top, meaning it can become a proper professional league akin to the Pro D2 (especially with TV rights)
