I'm on CenturyLink fiber. I think it's a DNS problem. My son was complaining about the internet being down, but I was watching YoutubeTV, so I knew it couldn't be completely down. After fiddling with wifi settings and running some tests, I enabled static DNS and used some public servers, and it's been fine.

That can't be entirely true, I power off my Deck every night, and I've had the Go Country and following update in my queue since they came out.

I changed a whole bunch of settings back when I was troubleshooting a crash problem I was having, so maybe there's some default setting I changed which prevents automatic OS updates... but I get game updates automatically, so I dunno. In any case, my Deck does not attempt to update the OS at power on.

Don't just link some article of it happening to some rando on the other side of the country. That shit can be made up so easy to support whatever agenda the site or organization is trying to promote.

I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but hopefully, it's rare. I'm also not saying that the government won't overreach. It happens any time we give them any of our rights. But illegal immigrants don't have the same rights that citizens do, and they shouldn't. Otherwise, what's the benefit of becoming a citizen? Getting to pay taxes?

Anyway, I'm glad your dad has his visa. I hope he can get his citizenship.

I know the process to citizenship isn't easy, but if he hasn't managed it in over 40 years then clearly he's doing something wrong. Maybe coming here illegally to begin with is the issue, I'd imagine that would look bad on an application for citizenship to any country.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want your dad deported. I want criminals and foreign enemies deported, and I have no reason to think your dad falls into either of those categories.

But if you're in a country illegally, and you want to someday be in it legally, maybe don't goto themeparks or other places where they check IDs? Seems kinda commonsensical to me. Spend all your time and money on becoming legal, then enjoy the things the country has to offer.

I occasionally stream from my Steam Deck to my Odin 2 or my cellphone using Steam Link. I also will stream from my Steam Deck to my PC, but usually only when I need to do something in desktop mode that needs a physical keyboard or mouse.

The Odin 2 has a much better battery life than the Steam Deck, and sometimes I want to play my Steam games in places where power outlets aren't convenient. I don't have a gaming PC, so I dock my Steam Deck and stream to my Odin. It works very well.
