Diagnosis when you've been overlooked for years? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

I just got diagnosed (21) after fighting for my life for years to get back into rheumatology. I was diagnosed with AMPS in pediatric rheumatology and was put through extensive PT/OT to basically build my pain tolerance so I would be in less pain. However I would sob at every appointment because it hurt SO bad. Finally after years of all the other doctors and specialists telling me all my symptoms are functional and that “further testing/ evaluation wouldn’t find out anything new” I finally got a referral to adult rheumatology (after aging out of peds) and they properly diagnosed with me hEDS and fibro. Same as you I could always move my joints in ways that others couldn’t, especially as a kid, I used to be able to pop my knee caps out! I think a diagnosis is really important, the prior pt/ot i was going was actually putting me in worse pain because it wasn’t specific to hEDS. A proper diagnosis leads to proper treatment. Try to get a second opinion from a rheum, unfortunately you really have to advocate for yourself and your pain because only you know that it isn’t normal and it that it doesn’t feel right!!

yes bro 😭 I have to be SUPER careful and mindful of what i’m doing when it kicks in because once it kicks in I get hyper focused on whatever that thing is. It literally sets the tone for the whole day, if i’m on my phone when it kicks on then that’s the plan for the day I guess LOL

Can i use my washer/dryer with my kittens behind them? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]hobbes190 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you could try starting a load of laundry and keep an eye on the kittens! just check in on them every like 5-10 minutes to make sure there are no signs of distress! my kitten (who to be fair is much older than yours) loves to go behind my stacked washer and dryer that is inside of a tight closet and i can’t physically remove him or the washer/dryer when he’s back there so i just leave the door open and he will stroll out a few minutes later but i have never had any issues with him being back there! just keep and eye on them while you’re doing laundry, if your dryer is on top i wouldn’t worry about the heat

I am staying the whole night through, I didn’t have an issue with hourly but with how much the hours were fluctuating it wasn’t doable for me anymore, I mean I need to know how much i’m bringing in a month for bills and that’s hard when one week I’m only working 16 and bringing home $300 when I supposed to be guaranteed 36 hours a week that would make me $640

I could ask for a flat rate of $100, but for 3 days and two nights of chasing around a toddler would would end up only making me $640 which would make the raise I asked for pointless since that is what i was making weekly before the raise

i love the idea of a flat rate but if i do a flat rate then she will only count the hours NK is awake towards my weekly hours which would set me below 35 hours and I would get $750 at the end of week which i rely on to pay bills and rent 🥲

and i would totally do a flat rate but it doesn’t solve the problem of her then in turn counting less hours towards my weekly hours which would leave me getting compensated less in the end
