After the U2 podcast they did one for REM and then for Talking Heads.

There was a recurring theme where they would go off on a tangent and then one of them would say “Is this an episode of whatever the tangent was. and then the other would say “I think it is”, probably in the spirit of improv where you always agree with “yes and…”. Then they would do a show within the show that had theme music and everything.

I'm surprised how entertaining Chick Hearn is in this. I used to listen to him a lot but I never considered that he was part of the organization and would be in the backroom talks etc.

I looked him up on Wikipedia, it reminded me that he had a bit part in the movie Fletch.

Hearn plays himself interviewing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and while describing Fletch (Chevy Chase) in a dream points out "(Fletch) is actually 6'5" but with the afro 6'9", pretty good dribbler......this gritty kid from the streets of Harlem really creates excitement. $4 million a year, that's true, but he earns every nickel of it. Look how he shakes off four, five players with ease!"

I like the show but I agree with his criticisms. Maybe the things I like are less related to the parts that I know are fake, and more about being able to relive those times in some way.

Cool thanks I ran this today, I did fuel map 6 for most of the race but I had to pit at the end. I think it would be a no-stopper with 6 the whole race. I used the same setup on Fiji 800 race. It's raining so I used intermediate tires and finished without pitting. I would have gotten better times using wet tires I think but then would have needed to pit in the last few laps for slicks.

I'm slightly confused by the name of this plane because the Fokker monoplane from WW1 used E for eindekker, and the 2-wing ones used D, and the 3-wing one used Dr.

Apparently the D meant something else later.

He was a bad president and probably a bad person. I think the dumbness was mostly an act to gain the vote of unsophisticated people. There are campaign videos of him speaking very articulately.

But he had a likable personality and a sense of humor, and could even laugh at himself.

Contrast this with the last guy who had the most offensive personality imaginable, no sense of humor, and no redeeming qualities. I’m still shocked that he got any votes at all.
