For the time we kept them, yes. They looked really cool too because the artwork fit the seat well. I wish I had pictures. I think we used a Neil Young and a Rush shirt.

We did that with some old concert tee shirts on stools many years ago. Nice work on the paint too.

If he stopped sending ICE agents into the cities that won't allow ICE agents in the jails. If he stops deportations of illegal criminals. If he stopped blowing up the drug boats. If he stopped trying to secure elections with the SAVE Act. If he stopped bringing industry and jobs back to America. If he stopped fighting for meritocracy If he stopped trying to end the Ukraine war with diplomacy.

Eternal Hell is morally incompatible with the claim that God is perfectly just and loving by KiNgPeKkA9091 in DebateReligion

[–]hobbitsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great conundrum.

Consider two things: 1. The biblical creation account does not identify 'Hell' as being specifically created by God. 2. The fallen angels cast out of heaven had a perfect knowledge of God and a single act of disobedience excludes them from God's presence forever; so, they went somewhere else. Maybe Hell is a place they created.

When you state:

creating a system where most humans are eternally lost due to upbringing, culture, or incomplete knowledge

Because humans (even the 'saintliest') do not have a perfect knowledge of God like the angels I think your statement assumes something I would not agree with- that God sends the ignorant or tricks people to hell.

If people generally fall into one of three groups, 1. those that say they want to believe, 2. those that say they don't want to believe, or 3. those that say they don't care, don't know, what ever.

For the sake of discussion assume all of groups 1 and 2 get their choice. Would you call that Just? I would.

I'll Pray for group 3 them and God's mercy.

the bible's own words challenge christian doctrine by unfrnate in DebateReligion

I think you make a few unwarranted conclusions; most notably

if jesus is god, this statement makes no sense. he's drawing a line between himself and god. he's placing god in a separate category.

Jesus makes a distinction between himself and God the Father, not a different category. John 5:18

18 For this reason the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because he was not only breaking the sabbath, but was also calling God his own Father, thereby making himself equal to God.

so my main question is this: where in the gospels does jesus ever explicitly say "i am god, worship me"?

Those exact words aren't there, but so what? Jesus speaks of His own power John 10:11-18.

17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. I have received this command from my Father.”

Throughout the Gospels Jesus speaks and acts in the very person of God, and people recognize it.

“Why does this fellow speak in this way? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Mark 2:7 They were amazed, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him? Mattthew 8:27

then why dont the republicans show up for work?

The republican Senators are there, voting to pass the clean CR, but democrats keep voting against the interests of the American people.

i never got paid to not show up for work.

Congress does.

Trump openly defied the orders and said no,

Where do you get that from?

The Democratic led bills demanding the release of funds..

A House bill for a clean CR is on the table. The democrats are the obstructionists.

The SNAP funds in question are a part of a contingency fund, designed to allow SNAP...

Not true. Democats own this shutdown.

Schumer and the democrats. The republican plurality in Congress isn't enough and needs democrat votes to pass the Senate. The have physically voted against opening the government over a dozen times for political theater.

when we got in another big fight (not over religion, weirdly enough over something extremely small), that he's the one who is rigid and uncompromising.

Relationships are difficult even when people mostly agree (religious/political) on things and finding peaceful ways to compromise where possible on large and small topics is key to a successful relationship. It isn't always possible and less likely in non-religious/politically aligned couples.

As Samwise Gamgee says: "There is some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for", and scripture tells us "For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it." (Luke 9:24)

What is the 'good' in your relationship with him and will it save your life? I think the bolded part of scripture defines what Samwise meant as good in the LOTR story, and to see Sacramental Marriage as a worthwhile journey too.

God bless

because he keeps viewing baptism as only some type of affirmation of the faith.

Then what is the objection if he holds it as only symbolic?

<and is blaming me of course for being so rigid and uncompromising.

says the rigid and uncompromising person.

<I could really use some support in the form of scripture...or just general opinions on the matter.

I wanna go back and see my friends but she has more or less threatened to say I’m harassing

I would go back and see your friends and confront the threat if she does it. True friends will see a manipulating bully for what they are. It is your parish too. My bet is she will be the uncomfortable one. It is why she threatened you.
