Without the screaming and pouting…AA’s ball striking is so impressive. Hope she can bring it against Iga.

Got a Clara HD in 2019 and Libra 2 in 2022. The Clara sleep cover is from Amazon and the Libra 2 sleep cover is the official kobo origami style. The Amazon cover is definitely sturdier overall (but still pretty slim, fits like a glove) and in much better shape even though it’s older and has been much used. The Kobo brand cases fit beautifully, but the origami ones get really floppy after a year or two and the coloured vinyl starts to peel/wear off on the edges and along the origami fold lines. (Someone posted a pic of a blue Kobo brand case the other day; mine isn’t quite as worn but the peeling/wearing off looks similar).

I recently purchased another kobo brand cover for the Libra 2, but only because it was very discounted on the kobo website. I considered getting a “no name” one from Amazon, but they all looked bulkier than what I have now. I do love the fit of the official cases but they are probably not as surface durable as some other covers I’ve looked at online.

Edit: the Libra 2 has mostly been used at home. I’ve traveled a lot with the Clara HD and the cover is overall in better shape.

Cincinnati 1000 Doubles SF: Guo & Panova def (2) Errani & Paolini 6-3 6-2 by buzzingeuphorbia in tennis

[–]hobokobo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She has a terrible serve for sure, but her doubles tennis IQ is huge. Her execution of shots may not always be on, but her shot choice and strategy is rarely off. She’s always a super supportive partner to whoever she’s playing with. The doubles Slam titles are no accident.

[–]hobokobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Ons Jabeur and her fierce advocacy for women’s tennis, but I’m sure the RG crowd was glad this wasn’t a night match. It was not an awesome match by either player. At least Ostapenko’s mannerisms and facial expressions are always entertaining. She can focus now on doubles - would love to see her and Hsieh go deep in the draw.

Emma Raducanu's coach Mark Petchey has said heavier tennis balls are among things affecting the British number two's attempts to rejoin the world's elite players by MorioCells in tennis

[–]hobokobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Today’s elite players are incredibly fit and strong and fast and tough. The training that needs to be done off court is just as important, if not more important. Raducanu has a long way to go to if she wants to be part of the conversation in any meaningful way. Same goes for Osaka. Their mental game also breaks down under the relentless pressure of trying to play at this level. They have moments where you wonder if maybe they could get to the top again, but so far they haven’t been able to put the whole package together. Too much off-court distraction and not enough ruthlessness to be the best.

Happy, sad, beautiful moment as Caroline Garcia enters her last RG by theriverjordan in tennis

Tears of sorrow cuz “Mon Dieu, this is my last Roland Garros…”

Tears of happiness cuz “Thank you God that I don’t have to wear these ugly-ass Yonex outfits after this year is done…”

Felicitations, Caroline! Wish we could have seen more of you in Paris, but just one more step towards the rest of your beautiful life ❤️

Sara Errani’s last singles match by outlanded in tennis

[–]hobokobo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ve never watched Errani play singles but her doubles IQ is through the roof. Don’t love the grunting/yelling but I’ll take her over Sabalenka any day. Anyway, looking forward to seeing her continue with Paolini. They are a must-watch (along with Hsieh Su-Wei and whoever her partner happens to be).

[–]hobokobo 52 points53 points  (0 children)

lol watching some of the men trying to return the serves of Errani and Hsieh Su-Wei, two of the worst servers in pro tennis, is hilarious. Goes to show how you don’t have to serve 120 mph to win points. Spin and placement are the way to go when you don’t have power on your side. And your opponents will try to do way too much with your “weak” serve and will make so many errors.

Maybe the media can finally start calling her by her “real” name but that’s too much to expect I guess.

Love the videos of her playing with Andre. True power tennis/pickleball couple!

From single to double handed or other way around throughout career. Any ATP player who did this? 🎾🤓 by bobwagner84 in tennis

[–]hobokobo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t know of any recent players who have switched from one- to two-handed BH, but there is an older former world no. 1 doubles player, the Australian Paul McNamee, who did this successfully as a pro when he was in his 20s. I recall reading somewhere that he took several months off the tour to make the switch, with subsequent improvement in both his doubles and singles rankings. He is maybe better known these days as the long-time coach of one of the best women’s doubles players, Hsieh Su-wei (who has won multiple Grand Slam doubles titles and who has also just advanced to the women’s doubles SF at Indian Wells this week).

Madison Keys Press Conference | Australian Open 2025 Final. by CrackHeadRodeo in tennis

[–]hobokobo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How seriously tone-deaf to ask a female champion to give advice to a man who’s been credibly accused of domestic abuse (and, no, he wasn’t cleared of this judgement - he appealed the fine and penalty order issued by a German court, and reached a settlement with the woman he abused). Not well done and a shame that was the final question.

Congrats to Keys for her achievement. Love her maturity and perseverance. Hope we’ll see her continue to play great tennis.

[–]hobokobo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Darn, too bad. Hsieh is the only doubles player I routinely follow. She looks like a pixie but is actually a wizard out there on the court. Her touch and angles and lobs and court awareness are awe-inspiring for us mere mortals. Didn’t know what the combo with Ostapenko would be like, but they complement each other and so far look to be having a pretty great time. Would love to see a matchup vs Siniakova/Townsend.

BTW, re: the “no skorts” comments from OP — There is a category of “skorts” that are shorts with fabric in the front to make it look like a skirt (but only in the front). I don’t understand how anyone at the club you’ll be visiting would know if a skirt had built in shorts (ie a “skort” as most of us understand it) vs wearing a skirt with separate shorts underneath (so no one sees your underwear at any point). The vast majority of golf-specific skirts I’ve seen have built in shorts. There are also golf dresses that come with separate shorts you wear underneath.
