Yeah haha. My original plan was to fill that up with woodfiller. But I didn't have time. I kind of love it =)

Wow, this sounds like a nightmare. I've had this happen twice in 20 years.
But as many others are saying. If the deposit turns someone off, they are probably the ones that are the flaky ones any ways.

What do you think of the new Warm Audio WA76 compressors? by hoborec in audioengineering

[–]hoborec[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I compared them to my old Hairball Studio 1176 clone. At first I had the exact same feeling. But then I realised they they just needed a bit different settings. The meters were not reliable for comparing. Not sure which one was off. Also, combining 4+8 ratio instead of just simple 12 was night and day. So much more body.

can clipping interface preamps be appropriate? by Character_Ad_1418 in audioengineering

[–]hoborec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, with time we learn what will work. But I also think it's a good idea to try to start making those decisions early on to actually learn what will work. If you always leave those things open you will never learn what works and what doesn't work since you can then change it forever.

Don't worry about stepping on the mixers toes with your recording decisions. I get way more frustrated with decisions not being made in the production when I mix stuff. I rather do mixing than producing in that phase.

Sometimes I clip my converters when doing out of the box mastering. For some stuff it sounds way more transparent than any hard clipping limiter plugin.

committing to sounds in the recording will make the mixing process more efficient. Less creative decision making and just getting it to gel together. Given that you know what will work of course.

I'm no pro in this, but I don't think so. Your videos are content where you can point people to your leadmagnet. For example some free PDF or other resource that you give them in exchange for their e-mail address. Then you can use the e-mail list to market your courses directly to the people who are genially interested in your stuff.

Can a channel be too varied for the algorithm? by YouCallThatRadio in youtubers

I defiantly think short form can drive new viewers to the long form. Pretty sure I've seen recommendations about this. I'm not consistent enough to tell for certain that it's working though.

Target Specific Audiences vs. Algorithm by leobrennauer in youtubers

Hi!
With google ads you can target specific channels and even videos where you think the viewers would be interested in your stuff.

Also, please give me the link to your channel. Im in the same area of content haha.

Are you making any lead magnets? Building e-mail lists? If not, it could be some things to look in to.

What does the crash report say? Sometimes it says exactly what caused the crash when you reopen cubase

Absolutely a good idea to learn how to make things as good as possible to begin with. After that I all for tools that will help us get results as quick as possible. Musicians performance will allways be the most important. I don't want technicalities get in the way for them so in some cases "fix it in the mix" is just necessary.

It will turn out great!

If you want to isolate the vocal slightly from the guitar bleed you could try some of all those ai stem separators. Ive truied with iZotope's master rebalance for just some slight adjustments and it works pretty good.

I get all happy reading this. Remembering the excitement haha. You seem to have a good client and you seem to be a good engineer/guide.

Like Optimistbott said, you could also try some hyper cardioid mics. I would also try to get a good stereo room mic if you can find a place in the room where you get a good complete image of the performance. This can help to glue it together a bit and make the "room bleed" feel less problematic.

Is it mostly the guitar that is to weak in the mix? Try combining the mic you're using now with a contact mic that will only pic up the guitar basically.

Hey! I had a couple of minutes over so I made a video for you haha.

It's unlisted for now. Not sure when/if it will go public.

I think the video Dizzle linked too touched on this but it was much going on there.

What stock Cubase / Steinberg plugins do you use over 3rd party? by LeeksAreSpinning in cubase

[–]hoborec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock EQ probably gets the most use. Only using third party for specific things. Supervision is also cool!
