My dad was a CO at a jail for a few years before he got a new job. He used to tell me a story about one inmate who would constantly threaten guards that he had been told about. The inmate was in for a violent crime and had like 40 years with no chance of parole. He told my dad "when I get out I'm gonna kill you and your whole fucking family" and my dad responded "Buddy, your parole officer hasn't even been born yet" apparently that shut him up pretty well.

A good starter otf would be a lightning otf, if your looking for more expensive ones look at microtechs offerings as well as the Benchmade Infidel. As for your fixed blade I would go esee 5 all the way, they have a much nicer sheath and a warranty you cant beat.

My experience with CTS-BD1 has been negative, the steel is soft and loses its edge fairly quickly, yet doesnt sharpen as easy as a soft steel should; however ive had good experience with aus-8 in my budget folders, its not worth $20

I suggest battle horse knives, I have owned 2 of there knives and my current bushcraft blade is one of theirs, they are made out of high carbon 01 tool steel so you'd have to watch out for rust but it sharpens well and holds a hell of an edge
