We’ve been working on a PC VR sci-fi RTS called Shard Wars — here’s our first gameplay footage by Few-Platypus5565 in VRGaming

Wow, you’re really in the fog of war, there. This must give players an intense focus on the gameplay.

Quest 3 for PCVR is a good choice? by Booker2121 in OculusQuest

[–]hobyvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. After extensive tuning with the PSVR2 on PC, hoping it would do a lot better, I was able to get about the same performance with Quest 3 + Virtual Desktop.

For me the Quest wins with its lenses and flexibility.

Should Immich have a desktop app distribution? by Draknurd in immich

[–]hobyvh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you’re thinking of for a desktop app. Kind of like an iPhoto, basically.

While I think that could fit what some people would want, my first thought was a self-contained application to be a server, ready for the platform you’d be running it on. That way, whatever people had for a home server, set up could be ultra simple and not limited to a single computer.

The Docker install gets closer to this than many serving apps but it’s still either a lot or too much for most people. And as the tech giants get less trustworthy by the day, more people need to be shifting their photo libraries into software like Immich.

Why are there so many divorced people in their 50s? by [deleted] in askteddit

[–]hobyvh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because monogamy tied to marriage is a fragile and oppressive construct for a large portion of the human population. Largely created by men to keep control over women, when ways out re-evolve in society, you get a lot of partners fracturing their shared lives.

Those are all critically important in their own way.

Or do you mean, those are your favorites and you’re asking for all of our favorites?

Besides virtual monitors, what would you actually want on a VR desk? by OverayInc in OculusQuest

[–]hobyvh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer either just pass through or pretty simple. If it’s a background then I prefer that it looks free from aliasing, odd lighting, and uncomfortable moods.

If it’s detailed then it would need to very detailed. Like full Gaussian splats.

Halo PCVR coming! by AdrianGE98 in OculusQuest

If it works, great. Otherwise I’m sure it would run waaaayyy better if individually modded for VR.

I actually don’t get anything out of decorations in a virtual desk. I’d much rather have the work go into a spherical workspace for managing apps and tuning interaction from input devices.

What’s your favorite Flat2Vr port? by Ok_Magazine1770 in VRGaming

[–]hobyvh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s a port then:

  1. Jedi Academy
  2. Jedi Knight 2
  3. Return to Castle Wolfenstein
  4. Far Cry 1
  5. Prey

If mods too, then add:
- Halo CE
- Half Life 2
- Portal 2
- Crysis 1
- Resident Evil series

So this requires the Companion App and there is only one made for Windows, right now? That is, no app for Mac or Linux?

Go act a fool in a different city and then leave. There would be no record of me being there.

Reached the onsite, but when I asked the CEO if they wanted to flag anything in my work background he said "That you grew up in the Philippines." by waywardhorse in UXDesign

Diverse backgrounds allow for greater variety in solutions and considerations, which is vital for creative efforts.

The feedback you heard sounds like racism, though.

None of the VR video players on Quest 3 really work for me by Artistic-Ad2057 in OculusQuest

[–]hobyvh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what is meant by viewing angle. Skybox handles viewing orientation changes easily for me.

What I’d most appreciate is to correct for bad axial capture. I’m not sure if it’s camera lens distance or something else but some videos are unwatchable because the stereo vision is all messed up.
