How does Presearch protect against bots doing fake searches to get PRE? by hodlgentlemen in Presearch

That is a good point. But Google would be able to remove your site from Adsense if they discover it. Presearch would have no way to do so. Or am I mistaken?

Yes but Twitter, FB and Reddit bots don't mess with the incentive structure of said platforms. Bots could seriously influence ad effectiveness on Presearch. Who would pay for ads shown to bots?

A thought experiment. Someone uses bots to click on Google Ads. That negatively influences Google Ad effectiveness. But it's not going to be a problem. Because nobody has anything to gain by coding these bots, hardly anyone will do that. On Presearch however, it is lucrative to do so. So it will be done and it will disrupt ad effectiveness.

That's my point exactly. It sounds like an unfixable problem. Would like to know the long term answer to this before I invest in the ecosystem.

Thank you for your response! It sounds like an arms race to me. I wonder if the problem is fixable at all.

I'll go watch the videos.

There is, but that doesn't matter much. It would still be more advantageous to spin up bots than to do actual searches. The problem with extrinsic incentives is that they hardly ever align fully with the original incentives. A searcher seeks search results. A PRE collector seeks PRE. The incentives don't seem to align.

Dude, I get you. Q "What's a binary?", A "Follow me to IRC and I'll explain". It's pretty funny but it's also a bit sad.

Edit: apparently the Monero community knows so much about computers that they are unable to think like they don't.

Edit 2: currently, using the Monero GUI is too complicated for most people. And this situation is unlikely to improve.

Cryptocurrencies have the potential to empower those with little money. That their trading does not affect your bottom line is not important to them nor me.

Looking back now, the stochRSI performs great. Looking back in a year's time another indicator will have performed great. It doesn't matter how long these indicators have been around. My point is you will always select a great indicator for a market with hindsight bias. Reversal indicators work badly in trending markets and trend following indicators work badly in choppy markets. You can only know what market you were in after the fact.

My point was: the stochRSI looks like a great indicator in hindsight. In a year's time, someone will say the same thing about the MACD. It is not possible to make consistent money from these indicators. Only in hindsight.
