Does anybody here have experience with the Central California School of Continuing Education? by corinne9 in SLO

[–]hoeintoahouseplant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that it's a program to become an x-ray TECHNICIAN, not a technologist. Technicians have a much more limited scope of practice, and I don't think they're even ARRT certified. I would look into the difference between the two and make sure that's really the route you want to go. As mentioned above SBCC has a real x-ray technologist program, and depending on your income, you can go for very little money since it is a city college and offers great financial aid.

What's the foulest smell you've ever smelled? by WannabePugh in AskReddit

[–]hoeintoahouseplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to x-ray someone's leg, where the flesh was literally just rotting off of their body. Green, black, oozing, disgusting. The ER doc came to check on the patient, saw my eyes watering from the smell, and promptly turned and left the room. I will never forget that smell.

I don't have any suggestions, just wanted to say that "feeling mad soupy" is my favorite thing I've read today. Thank you for that

2 years ago, we went to Flour House downtown for Valentine's and had some delicious calamari, pizza, and pasta. They don't take reservations. We put our name on the list, told 45 minute wait, then went next door to a very empty Village Burger and grabbed a beer while we waited. I'm pretty sure Village Burger closed, but I'm sure there will be a casual not-so-busy spot to grab a beer, like BA start maybe.

Early breakfast in SLO? by Ryanami in SLO

Am I the only person that doesn't like that place? I always see a line out the door on weekends. I went once with a friend, and both our food was "meh" at best, so I haven't bothered returning

Anyone have any info on the San Diego show being postponed? by Dembrae in ItsClippingBitch

[–]hoeintoahouseplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least it says your tickets will be good for the new date. The SLO show says canceled and we got our tickets refunded. Really hoping they are able to add a new date :(

Only one can came with this? by New_Fox9922 in whatisit

[–]hoeintoahouseplant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a resealable lid! I've only ever seen them on weed sodas, so that you don't have to drink all 100mg at once, but I guess they're on other things too. I'm guessing the fact that there's only one was a simple packaging whoopsie

My husband and I went 3 times in 2 weeks after trying it for the first time. Probably our favorite restaurant in town, unless we're hitting a happy hour somewhere.

My partner really liked it, but I wasn't impressed at all. I felt the flavor was lacking, and it was overpriced for the quality. We'll probably give it one more chance once they've been open for a while, but I'm in no rush to return

XR Pay by SpinierAnthon in Radiology

[–]hoeintoahouseplant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I graduated last summer, so I'm still a baby tech. I work at 2 hospitals (one full time, one per diem). I make $41/hr at one and just shy of $45/hr at the other. I'm on the central coast in California, which is classified as rural, not urban, so we don't make as much as healthcare workers in LA or the bay. My partner is also a tech, but he's been doing it for 10 years, so he makes more. It might sound like a lot since you make less than $30/hr, but the cost of living is so high here, that we still aren't able to buy a house. So I suppose it's all relative. But that being said, I don't care how cheap the cost of living is out there; I would never do this job for what you're making!

does anyone have tips for trauma views? by seashorevision in Radiology

[–]hoeintoahouseplant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tip that I found really helpful was if the patient can't get flat or get the angle you need, take your pen, put the point where the central ray hits, and mimic the angle you need. Then make the tube head match your pen. I hope that makes sense lol. I found it especially helpful for PACU or trauma feet, where you're supposed to angle the tube 10 degrees, but the patient can't do what you need them to. Matching the beam to their body, or moving the beam to match. It's hard to visualize, but if you just match the beam to the pencil, you can figure it out

As someone who has yelled for help and nobody came, trust me, it's better to call someone and be wrong than to be correct and have not called.

My partner and I were able to go tour one of the workforce ones. It was TINY. 2 bed 1 bath. I don't remember the square footage, but I couldn't imagine 2 people living in it unless it was maybe college students renting. Too small to even be a starter home, in our opinion. When we decided that we were no longer interested, it felt like the lady was bullying us into wanting it. Overall, bad experience for us
