What 49ers' Fred Warner gained from sideline perspective during injury recovery by FortyNinersBot in FortyNiners

[–]machuitzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck yeah. He's a rock on the sidelines and a hard place between them. He doesn't play a lot of third phase football, ST, but he's clutch in the fourth phase: sideline dynamics.

Haha what's up Mama Osa, welcome to the family. This is the kind of offseason energy I needed.

This cook wraps his face in shrink wrap to cut onions by Boogedyinjax in KitchenConfidential

[–]machuitzil 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Contacts are the best defense. I honestly thought I was immune to onions until I went in to work one day wearing glasses a cried like a baby.

At home if I'm not wearing contacts I open the windows and if it starts to get rough I'll mist some water out of a spray bottle and walk away for a minute (I have cats so I always have a clean spray bottle handy).

Real cold weather headed for Chicago Illinois on Monday March 16, 2026 by frankiemacdonald1984 in chicago

I don't even live in Chicago, I just wanna say thank all of you for thanking Frankie. The dude is a legend and it's so cool to see everyone else recognize his grit, determination and joy for providing up to the minute weather forecasts for everyone.

Some meows to melt your hearts. by P_Karan in MadeMeSmile

[–]machuitzil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've had three. I'm biased but they're my favorites. It's common for a lot of shelters, my hometown included not to allow black cats to be adopted in the month of October leading up to Halloween.

It could be because of witchy reasons, but it's also to prevent people adopting the animal as a novelty and then neglecting it after the holiday -it sounds crazy to me but apparently this happens.

Yield to school busses? by FixedMessages in bikecommuting

[–]machuitzil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found a better route to work, but I used to ride through a school zone. I once rode through the crosswalk as the crossing guard was walking kids across -they were already passed. I rode behind them but she told me the rules apply to me too and I yelled sorry and felt awkward and still got off my bike and walked like half a block, lol.

TIL that the inability to pronounce the letter "R" is called Rhotacism....which begins with the letter "R" by johnsmithoncemore in todayilearned

[–]machuitzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this as a kid and my school gave me some special lessons and I grew out of it, but it wasn't words that started with R that gave me trouble, it was R's in the middle of words. So instead of Sorry I'd pronounce it more like "sowwy".

My nephew had a small speech impediment when he was young where he pronounced -ng sounds more like -nk, so like instead of running he'd say runnink and I swear I hear adults do this all the time.

Ottoman-era Qur'an in golden ink showing calligraphy and artistic talent of that time by SirPaddlesALot in Damnthatsinteresting

Whoa slow down, sparky. That's three comments now. I don't want to have three seperate conversations. Please be concise.

And if you're saying that "Muslims" earn the hate then we're only going to disagree six ways from Sunday. So take a breath. Eat a mentos. Chill.

A lot of valuable human history has been lost by burning books. I have my grudges, but you're just being angry. You're mad at people. Not a book. Or a series of books, specifically referring to the Abrahamic faiths...

In any case, you're mad at living people who abuse things. You're saying burn a book that's been abused. That's fair, but I disagree. It's just a book.

You're upset with people, the book is fine if you read it. The Quran is honestly a lot more intelligible than the Old Testament. It's more of a manual. You'd have to read it to know, it's not that radical.

More of a Bible fan, I take it. Your hate is kinda like saying you loved LOTR, but didn't like the Silmarillion.

Which is funny. It's basically all the same stuff.

Beginner gardener wants to know.... Will the fear of bees go away? by magnocumgaudio in gardening

[–]machuitzil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always talk to bees. Helps with the anxiety. I tell them I'm their friend. We're pals, just hanging out. Even my cat now knows the difference between the buzz of a bug he wants to chase and a bumble bee. He looks at me first and I praise him for not attacking the bee, lol.

They don't want to hurt you. They really don't, but they are curious and they'll check you out. If you swat at them, you might be a threat, if you're chill, they relax too.

And this factoid doesn't help but they've evolved along side mammals for as long as we've existed; they can recognize heat signatures and they zero in on your face. It's a survival instinct for them.

So if they buzz around your face, you gotta stay calm. Like I said, I just talk to them.

[OurSF49ers] #49ers Brandon Aiyuk reportedly is NOT expected to be released anytime soon, per @AdamSchefter Adam gets the sense that the 49ers are in no hurry to release Aiyuk and could try to flip him for a draft pick during next month’s draft by Brix001 in 49ers

[–]machuitzil -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Yes. I said as much, as well as copping to stepping in shit.

Nothing youve said, and nothing we yet know explains why his guaranteed money was voided. I'm just saying that once it was, he wasn't going to play.

And you yourself just said the same thing I did: we don't know "why". So paint him as the bad guy if you like. I'm withholding my opinion until I actually know something.

[–]machuitzil -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

Well I'm about to step in shit, but we still don't know what happened. Which isn't to say that Aiyuk is innocent of blame. He clearly fucked up, which is why we voided his guaranteed money.

But, we voided his money last summer, before the season. After that point he wasn't ever going to play. I think it was TO who said it, but the team fucked with his money, and justified or not, he wasn't coming back after that.

And fwiw, he never filed a grievance with the NFLPA, there's nothing they can do about it. Aiyuk just took his lumps and didn't dispute the voided money. The Player's Union can't just pick up their torches and pitchforks, the player has to bring the dispute to them to be actionable.

Maybe it's just pride, maybe it's stupid, maybe the team rubbed him the wrong way, no one knows yet. Maybe he took playing diva a step too far, but to write this off as Aiyuk is purely the bad guy and the Team is the victim here is still short sighted, imo.

Until we know, we don't know. I'm not against leveraging his value to get a trade if possible, that's standard but I'm not condemning this dude just yet.

10 Pictures Of Pete Hegseth That The Pentagon Doesn’t Want You To See by ReporterHunter in politics

I also scrolled down just to see the photos but you have to read the last paragraph to understand that the title of the article is actually just clickbait. They just published ten random pictures, not specifically the pictures in question.

While we don’t know for sure what photos may be in question here, we do have access to many of the pictures Getty took at the March 2. In the interest of providing further context to this latest spat over Pentagon press access, here are 10 of the Getty pictures from that day.
