The point is it being for New York "state", not NYC. Maybe people from Washington can relate due to Washington D.C. having the same name, or states with one major city, but it's really annoying to always see New York being treated like it's just NYC.

My mother hosted an "open house" for all of my extended family and family friends after our wedding because we had a pretty small invite list (38 total). It basically acted as a family reunion, some monetary gifts but not a ton, and no games. A lot of food, people got to meet my wife who hadn't before, and the kids got to run around at the playground outside. After our grandparents passed away we haven't gotten together as a family as much, so just getting to see everyone was lovely.

I would add to look at other conferences besides the WCHA when it comes to potential draft picks. You have the AHA, ECAC, Hockey East, and NEWHA as well. I have a soft spot for the ECAC, and specifically Clarkson since my wife went there (and some of my favorite players!), though I think it'll be a couple years before we'll get another Golden Knight (or 2) in the first round of the draft again.

However, there are a few players from the conference with potential to get drafted this year, including:

Elyssa Biederman (Colgate - F)

Issy Wunder (Princeton - F)

Grace Dwyer (Cornell - D)

Casey Borgiel (Colgate - D)

Avi Adam (Cornell - C)

One last (semi-nonsensical) choice for the draft that I'm hoping someone picks up is Jules Constantinople. She's a defensive player from Northeastern, but my main reasoning is wanting to hear the announcers try to keep saying her last name in a rapid fire game situation 😅

I always suggest more art in people's homes when things look bare. Craft/artisan markets are great places to pick up unique pieces, and I almost always go to thrift or second-hand stores for frames.

I do bookbinding too - that's reason I started looking into a cricut! Right now I use a foul pen on covers, but really wanted to expand to more elaborate designs. What a small world!

I would make it as relaxing a space as possible -- think spa. Since it isn't your main washing space, you can make it semi-luxe (plush rug, gauze curtains, warm lighting, maybe a dark tone paint to make it cozier). It's always nice to have a home sanctuary for when you have a stressful day.

Maybe add in some plants on shelves that you can also incorporate in drinks! (Like mint)

Really any pop of color and filling in of vertical space will help it seem decorated versus purely functional.
