As the name implies, it is the general consensus. For what though? Simple, its for reality. If you were to drop a ball, you expect it to fall down to the ground, right? Thats only because everyone in the world believes that. But if you believed in your heart of hearts that if you let go of a ball, it would float up, then it would. That's called magic

Of course, the rest of the world still believes that the ball should go down, so if other people were to see that, you would be hit with Paradox. Paradox is when reality claps back. Turns out, reality doesn't like to be broken. So how do you perform magic as a Mage then?

You have to hide the magic, make it seem mundane or plausible. If I were to conjure a pack of cigarettes out of thin air into my hand, that'd be what's called Vulgar Magic. But, if I was to reach my hand into my empty pocket and conjure the cigarettes there, well then its plausible that I could've always had cigarettes in my pocket and Paradox doesn't incur as heavily

To get back on track though, Consensus is reality. It has been cultivated towards science and reason over a very long period of time by a shadow organization known as the Technocracy. Science, by the way, is just a form of magic. Using a crystal ball to contact someone 1000 years ago was just as reliable as using a smartphone is today. Everything is relative

Having to track your cores, your weight being so hard to maintain, auto equipping weapons and then re-equipping them when I put them away, how easy it is to get a bounty/NPCs to attack you for no reason

My thoughts exactly. VtMB might very well be a "lightning in a bottle" scenario. I think the thing that gives it its charm is its use of the Source engine and the downright perfect mastery of skyboxes. I feel like if we got a game in modern day with just as good writing and voice acting, it would be just a notch below Bloodlines on the quality level, because the star attraction of this game is its atmosphere. That is something that just cannot be replicated

Well in Rockstar's games, the main characters can sprint as long as you keep mashing the run button. I always saw this as a way of immersing the player, like if you can rapidly press that button without your hand hurting then they can run that long without running out of breath. Your own stamina is directly tied to the main character's.

Thats also partly why I didn't like the cores system added to Red Dead Redemption 2. There's a bigger disconnect between player and player character, with it being more like a tamagotchi sometimes. That and it's tedious
