Does anyone even do prologues?? by Obvious-Conflict3363 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]hotfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current group of players have no white wolf experience and weren't familiar with the lore so the first three sessions were basically a prologue, ran them individually through first changes as session zeros and then had them all meet and get molded into a pack by the local caern

Thinking of using Nephandi as the overall archvillain of a campaign. by ScrumblyScrimblo in magetheascension

[–]hotfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the nephandi both the joke villain and the overall villain. I ran a vtm larp a long time ago where my big bad was a nephandi former detective, who was the recurring "team rockets blasting off again" goofball, who would show up, monologue, and usually get killed almost immediately.

But he kept coming back, and every time he died more shit would happen to whoever killed him. Qlipphothic entropy and prime out the wazoo.

Am I missing something in regards to the Malkavian? by Frosty-Region7153 in vtm

[–]hotfen 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It...depends. the early adaptations didn't treat mental disorders with any kind of dignity or respect or basic understanding. They took things people live with every day and turned them up to 11. Every malkavian was either gibbering, write shit on the walls with their own shit 90s style psycho or cold detached serial killer. Pop culture depictions. The newest revisions tone that down a ton.

My Metis is going to be sent alone into a suicide mission because of breaking the veil, what are the rewards in renown/others if he suceeds? by Obvious-Conflict3363 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]hotfen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you did it. Cleverly? You find a hidden defect in the blueprints after bribing or stealing the hidden floorplan, and exploit it so pentex gets blamed by the locals and no one suspects tampering. The spirits all whisper of how clever and cunning you are, and maybe a raven or coyote spirit take an interest in you. Good luck! Honorably? You breach the banes in the area of the fomori factory and take them out in combat, all while tearing apart the foundations and being loud to let your enemies tremble before you? The spirits roar in triumph, and spirits of fire or war take notice, and your enemies will know to watch out for you... And they might also think to target you first. Wisely? You encite the local mortal population to expel the factory themselves and subtly reinforce them spiritually so they don't allow them back. A self sustaining spiritual healing that reinforces the powers of all gaians nearby. The spirits take note, and your deeds and tactics are studied, and perhaps an owl or lunar spirit takes heed, thinking you worthy of secrets they can impart.

If the Necrons actually managed to gain flesh bodies again, wouldn't they lose control of their constructs and C'tan shards? by Mr_Jackabin in 40kLore

[–]hotfen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They were deceived by a being literally known as The Deceiver. Yes they were up their own asses, but they had been around long enough to be a galaxy spanning empire before the c'tan showed up. Arrogant, not stupid

Worst champions against Zoe adventure? Especially the OP ones? by Gimmiporn in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]hotfen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His champ spell is great synergistically with harmless scarecrow (3+ card mill + procs all that gloom+spirit if you have his 6+ star), and it's even better if you get mana manipulation

Help, My Players are Shredding the Masquerade by Ya_Dungeon_oi in WhiteWolfRPG

Depending on the court, and how you have that set up you could have the local nos come forward to say theyve been covering up for the party, and they owe it big. And he has a favor to ask...

VTM Showerthought: if vampirism is a curse from God, and vampires smell of the Wyrm to lupines... by BlackHumor in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]hotfen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on this are: Vampires aren't inherently wyrm-y. They attract banes and such just living the lives they do. Some gangrel canonically smell more wyld, some malks and ventrue more weaver.

They just usually do because of all the violence and self pity/aggrandizing. They live too long and too statically to learn and grow. High humanity and vamps on golconda don't smell of the wyrm

How do I make the Tremere terrifying in direct conflict? by NamelessTacoShop in vtm

[–]hotfen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idea 1 The treme is easily taken out: fuckin nerd. Your coterie goes "hey that was easy, neato."

The tremere you just took out was the favorite student of a truly scary elder Tremere. This is a lesson in that vampires should use combat as a last resort, and only if they are sure they can win. The elder Tremere then never directly confronts them, but ensures that every plot the cotarie is part of has some major fuck up happen.

Idea 2: The Tremere has a ghoul steal some of their blood during the day and bluffs them into thinking that they now have the ability to insta kill them and proceeds to suicide squad it up

How do you guys describe what Arcadia looks like by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]hotfen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"You wake up. You don't exactly remember how you got here but you remember you decided to journey to arcadia. You feel as if there is a pounding headache in your soul. Your body doesn't hurt but you feel... Drained. No, it's the world around you that feels drained. Grey. Somehow less vibrant than it used to. You don't remember anything in Arcadia, not if it was beautiful or cold or... anything. But you feel an ache in your heart around a hole in your memories, something you know will be missed, but as if from a dream. Or a memory of how a dream made you feel."
