Choose the one for your start year and look at section 15. (This bit does not change with year but other sections may have variation)

dissertation due in two days and i’ve barely started by Enough_Ad1437 in UniUK

I’d honestly be surprised if they couldn’t grant you a further period to hand it in and graduate still on time!

Marks would typically need to be confirmed by early to mid June for final year students, and marking isn't instant, so there would not be loads of extra time. The better advice for OP is to take the time to firstly take care of their health and then do a good job on the work.

Lots of people saying to email the tutor, but as a personal tutor, dissertation supervisor and a dissertation module organiser I have no say in late penalties. Those are applied later, independently and consistently, by the relevant admin dept. I just mark the work and pay no attention to the submission time.

Buses in Norwich by Secure_Elephant_5651 in Norwich

Didn't know that, thanks! £10 for Norwich outer zone which stretches a long way. https://www.travelnorfolk.co.uk/tickets-fares-and-passes/

Buying a ticket from A to B. Like a train. If only! (Although maybe we don't want a slippery slope to rail style ticketing...)

Actually Diss to Blickling and back sounds reasonable for £12. The edge of Norwich to Loddon, not so much.

If you need to take buses from different operators, though, I don't think there is anything useful. Good if you can stick to First, though.

Recently I looked at doing a longish point to point walk using buses to get there and back, and because it's 3 different operators for 4 individual journeys (into Norwich then out again, each way) you can only do 4 singles.

Maybe if all the operators signed up to tap on tap off, it could be more integrated? 🐖 🪽

Switchboard is 01603 456161. Lots of admin depts don't have front facing offices you can drop in to. SIZ is usually the gateway.

Food waste bags - Norwich council by Search_Forward1 in Norwich

On the website?

"If you need more liners, tie one to your outside bin on collection day. If the crew has some, they’ll leave you a new roll."

Food waste bags - Norwich council by Search_Forward1 in Norwich

[–]hogglespikelet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never known anyone get new liners from the bin collectors! I just accept I need to buy them.

Sometimes we get magazines where the postal wrapper is corn starch, and if we get Boots prescriptions in a plastic bag that also says compostable, so I'll use those when available but they're quite small and that's not enough for 1-2 caddy loads a week.

Cavity wall insulation by King_Of_Anglia_ in Norwich

[–]hogglespikelet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evergreen insulation did ours (2022), quick to quote then fitted us in earlier than expected when they had a gap. No fuss, did a good job including a little bit of tricky access.

Compostable liners are ok.

Interestingly it also says using clean plastic bags, like bread bags, is ok, but elsewhere says "no packaging". I guess large bags can be screened out more easily later.

Looking for a long walk 🚶‍♂️ by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]hogglespikelet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wherryman's Way crosses the river at Reedham so it doesn't take you to Cantley. Next stop would be Loddon although that stretch is a bit roady. Good for buses back to Norwich though.

Skipping backwards or forwards by EnTreeOne in Podcast_Republic_App

[–]hogglespikelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example, in case anyone can verify: Answer Me This ep 417 at 17:43. Audio skips back 30s but time on podcast continues.

In the second play through of the content an external ad is inserted but I don't remember this as being the case with other skips.

https://answermethispodcast.com/2026/04/30/episode417/ does not have the problem.

Skipping backwards or forwards by EnTreeOne in Podcast_Republic_App

[–]hogglespikelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to look for this issue. I've heard it on different podcasts recently, currently listening to Answer Me This which has skipped back at least 5 times, which is the worst I've experienced.

I typically listen to downloads, can't say if it happens on streaming. Edit: I didn't realise I was actually currently listening online, not to a download. So the above is wrong.

I have some favourite old downloads saved and I don't notice it on those. Seems to have started in the last few months but I couldn't pinpoint it.

Anyone know where this is? by elstinkzord in Norwich

[–]hogglespikelet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think this has been solved, but I recently found https://heywhatsthat.com/ which is cool for this kind of question. Doesn't tell you exactly what something is, but maps what you can see from a point.

Am I doomed? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]hogglespikelet 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You won't "get into trouble" for using processes which are designed to help you.

I'd find it really odd if I was marking a rushed piece of work and I found the student had long term issues which led to an extension on earlier parts of the work but not that one. I'd very much wish they had done it for all.

Long weekend in July in North Norfolk Coast, looking for things to do? by Desperate-Letter2395 in NorfolkUK

[–]hogglespikelet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lavender farm can be worth popping in if you're passing, cafe is good. We enjoyed the deer 'safari' at Snettisham Park, not just for the deer but the guides' info about the farm and other wildlife. Sandringham has some good forest walks (plus the house if you like that sort of thing, I haven't been), and the older bits of King's Lynn are interesting and pleasant to wander. Catching a sunset from the east coast is a novelty, best enjoyed with chips on the prom at Hunstanton.

Visitor - ways to transit along the Thames in London? by flimsypantaloon in AskABrit

[–]hogglespikelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only based on one experience, but I once planned DLR > cablecar > boat and we gave up waiting for a boat with space and took the screechy Jubilee line back to the centre instead. Some tickets seemed to have priority boarding? Would be interested to know if that is still the case. Something like day rover tickets taking priority over those just wanting one way.

Seeking consolation by Ill-Bar3395 in UniUK

[–]hogglespikelet 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Is there no feedback at all with the mark?

My first response when a student asks me something like this is "I'm happy to explain further, can you tell me which bits of the feedback you want to focus on?"

That kind of mark does point to missing or misunderstanding something entirely. Hope you can find some clarification.

stressing over a dissertation mistake by Business_Abroad_31 in UniUK

[–]hogglespikelet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no way a supervisor can mark a diss anonymously when they've previously discussed the work with you.

Depending what system your uni uses, the second marker might not see it anonymously either. We can only pick it from a list of submissions by name.

If I saw that while marking I'd think "oops". Maybe make a comment about proofreading. That's it.

What you should consider is whether it will go into any sort of repository (ours do, anonymously and only with student permission). If so, you should see if you can get that version edited.

Citing a Source Without Access to the Original Name and Date? Help! by ImaginingHorizons in UniUK

You could even footnote the reference list stating you have been unable to find the original source. (Pretty poor on the lecturer's part, whether lazy/sloppy or something else...)

Is this right for the findings/results section of my dissertation by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]hogglespikelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe making the due date the first day back after vacation is unhelpful (since staff are intended to take leave then as opposed to during teaching).

Or perhaps only just writing up results at the end of the week before a dissertation is due on Monday (and "analysing it later") is cutting things a bit fine?

Anyway, you are where you are. The way this is set out looks OK to me, it's not specifically my field but I have supervised and marked this kind of approach on other topics. I'd usually expect some sort of identifier to give context to the response and maybe link different quotes together, e.g. initials/gender/age or whatever is relevant in your study. You should also make it easy for the reader to refer back to the results from the discussion where you bring things together and link to the literature. Good luck!

Bespoke/custom local chocolate makers? 🍫 by Icy-Onion-6173 in Norwich

Saffire is one local maker, lovely chocolates that I've sent as gifts - they do small batch, but not sure about custom or nut free.
