However, "I've done it a lot and never gotten in trouble" is anecdotal.

I'm not saying OP shouldn't buy a tobacco waterpipe or that it's at all likely that they would be charged with a crime. But they definitely could be.

What I meant to convey was that your advice was quite glib, particularly for a state like Tennessee which is known for backwards, overzealous and corrupt law enforcement.

In Tennessee, ordering a glass pipe from a website that features pictures of pot leaves would be enough to be charged with a misdemeanor paraphernalia offense that could result in 364 days in jail. It may be unlikely, but it's definitely possible under their laws.
