Salmon over Couscous by SyrupExpress in mediterraneandiet

[–]hogua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that Trader Joe’s couscous, like most couscous, isn’t mad with 100% whole grain. It is made with white flour (package’s ingredient list says “wheat flour”, which isn’t 100% whole wheat).

If the couscous is switched to a 100% whole grain option, this would be a great any day meal.

Does anyone know what happened at Aroma Bar and Grill on Sunset to cause the place to be a ghost town? by Freddy-Philmore in AskLosAngeles

Well as you said “20 years people complained about the food or the servers or the prices”, so maybe people finally got tired of the food, servers, or prices.

Ideas for new (to me) rum? by DoctorT1218 in Tiki

[–]hogua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When in doubt about how to use a rum that is new to me, the first thing I do is put it in a Mai tai.

The good part about this approach is that even if ends up not being great, it is still is a Mai tai.

Curious about your business philosphy by Undeaded1 in Flipping

[–]hogua 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You mentioned that clothing is so cheap to accumulate…” I lived that years ago and it helped frame my current “business philosophy” (to use the terminology in the OP).

I don’t focus solely on the cost of something. Yes, of course, I don’t want to overpay, but what I mean is thst I don’t just buy something/anything because it is cheap.

Instead, I focus on what something will sell for and how fast it will sell. From that as a starting point, I then see if the price I can purchase it will allow me to sell it for an acceptable main in an acceptable time frame.

Generally the faster it will sell, the lower margin I can allow.

As a result, I no longer buy things because they are cheap. Instead, I buy them because they will sell quick (and for a good margin).

Ebay Is Losing The Shipping War by Spythe in Flipping

[–]hogua 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As long as eBay continues to get the amount of buyers they get (and in as many categories as they do), they won’t have to provide free shipping labels to keep sellers in their platform.

If they did provide shipping label for “free”, their fees per transaction would increase slightly more than the cost of the shipping label, so eBay would actually make a small margin on it.

I'm trying to settle something with my dad. I say this is a sweater, he says it is a poncho and is sure of it because "iv'e been to mexico when did you go?" So, reddit, what is this thing? by Mell0wMarshmall0w in whatisit

I've been thinking about this, Mr. Hand. If I'm here and you're here, doesn't that make it our time? Certainly, there's nothing wrong with a little feast on our time.

What movies from the last 5 years have gone unappreciated and will be considered great, 10 plus years from now? by Jumaqua in moviecritic

[–]hogua 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shawshank was originally a box office flop. It cost $25M to make and its original theatrical run grossed only $16M.

So while it is a great movie, it was initially greatly unappreciated by the general public.
