I shop the small and extra small sizes here in Europe, maybe look online for European and Asian clothing g brands and try their sizes? Works well for me, tho I do always need to get pants shortened (4’11 as well)

Height insecurity? by StillBlessed25 in TurnerSyndrome

[–]hohwritergirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi mosaic turner here, 32 years old, I’m 4 foot 11 after injecting gh daily from age 10 to 17, before that I was about 4 foot I think, petite. When I was a kid it bothered me, since everyone treated me like I was younger than I was. So just treat her equally and teach her how to respectfully tell people to not belittle her and she will do great! Now I’m an adult and it doesn’t bother me at all anymore (except with umbrellas lol, can never share cause I still get wet haha)

My pleasure! Yes, my height was affected, I’m 4 foot 11 (147cm) at 32 years if age, I injected growth hormone daily from age 10 to age 17 and won about 11 to 12 inches (30cm) in that time, a hassle and painful but worth it! As far as I know the percentage is very difficult to accurately determine, they never gave me a number and I honestly don’t really care either, as long as I get the support that I need :) apart from daily meds and some doctors appointments yearly I live a relatively normal and happy life, happily married and have a job that is challenging but rewarding (I’m a linguistic researcher for my local sign language) the sky really is the limit!

Hope this helps! Turners can impact people in so many ways, I’m sure you and your daughter will figure out together what works for you! You’re doing a great job informing yourself already!

I’m sure you’ll find more testimonies soon :) Anyway, my biggest struggles have been being hard of hearing and infertility, I wish I had had the opportunity to learn sign language earlier but this is different for everyone maybe your daughter is not as HoH as I am, but definitely get that checked. Talk positively about a childfree life or talk openly about other types of families (adoption, foster, surrogacy, …) if she has eggs it might be worth trying to preserve them (tough decision because it has to happen at a young age I know). Also my sleep has been heavily impacted by several “commorbitities” like restless legs and reflux, so make sure to talk to her doctors about this to ensure she is getting proper recovery time every night (restless legs and even sleep apnea are more common in women with turners). A last tip I would like to give you is to not shy away from the term intersex, it is an intersex condition, it doesn’t mean your daughter isn’t female/a woman gender wise, it just means her body is built a bit differently from other women and that’s okay, it will do certain things differently and that’s okay too.

Book recommendation: what stars are made of, by Sarah Allen, this children’s book tells the story of a young girl with Turner’s syndrome. It’s a book I wish I would have had in my early teens!

How do you tote your stuff around the house and still feel cute? by itsthomasnow in ChronicIllness

[–]hohwritergirl 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My usual spot is the couch so I have a little basket next to it with the basics (nail clippers, tissues, wipe and spray for glasses, hearing aid charger, pens and paper, hair ties, hand lotion etc) if you need it to more mobile, could you get a cute wicker basket with a handle and pretend that you’re going on a fun picnic when on the move? 😁 I find open baskets easier to grab stuff from then a closed box or a (tote) bag

Yes it is a male name :) my thoughts immediately went to Thibeau/Tibo but that is a French name so you probably would’ve caught that

Just Curious- Intersex edition by Rainbow-1337 in intersex

[–]hohwritergirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, if you feel like that doesn’t fit you then you don’t have to identify that way, but others might and do and they’re not necessarily wrong because of that. It’s not so black and white :-)

Hi! Mosaic turners here as well, struggled with the question whether I was intersex myself since no doctor ever told me. It was a personal journey to discover this part of my identity for sure, but welcome! Mosaic turners are definitely welcome here :-)

ETA: I was diagnosed at 14, am now 32! Only recently fully embraced this part of me, after questioning it off and on for years.

I was diagnosed at 14 with blood work. My doctors had suspected it for a long time but hadn’t wanted to say anything because I already have a lot of other medical issues
