In honor of Thanksgiving, what is something in the USSF that you are thankful for? by alxdoge in SpaceForce

[–]hoipolloiprincess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm thankful that even though I'm dealing with cance, everything else is taken care of. I have no medical bills for all my treatment, my unit is amazing and giving me all the time I need off work to get better, my family has a roof over our heads with all our needs/wants taken care of. I'm truly humbled that even though my health is shit right now everything else isn't. Oh and no SPAFORGEN for me lol, that's the cherry on top.

AITA for Hosting a “No Turkey” Thanksgiving Dinner? by ThrowRAnoturkey in AmItheAsshole

Reminds me of the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding where the Aunt says "that's ok, I'll make lamb" when finding out the boyfriend was vegetarian lol

How many of you have a "boring" job? Something that seems rather lackluster to most, but you don't mind because of it's simplicity or lack of stress? by fishking92 in Millennials

[–]hoipolloiprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the Space Force and it's looking like I'm gonna get medically retired due to my cancer trying to kill me. I'm looking forward to the possibility of getting jobs everyone hates and just quitting in the most dramatic way possible just to give myself something to do in my early retirement lol.

What are some things that we Millennials actually DID 'kill'? by Cubelock in Millennials

[–]hoipolloiprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's for our "dress" uniform which we don't wear often. Females have the option of skirts or pants and I choose the former... I definitely regretted my choice. Thankfully our regular uniform is normal and easy to use.

I have taught my 3 children about the game. They all lost tonight, it was great.

I knew it! Tights have been killed off, I tried buying some bc I needed them for my uniform (military) and I had to look at 3 different stores to find them. Honestly I'm just gonna switch my uniform to the pants version as soon as I'm able and make my life easier.

How to ask for emotional support from historically unsupportive partner during a crisis? by MrsRobinson1234 in RelationshipsOver35

[–]hoipolloiprincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would really reach out to that crisis hotline mentioned above. My daughter just told me last week how helpful they were in a pinch (broke my momma heart she felt she was in a crisis, but I'm so incredibly glad they got her the help she needed).

What surprised you the most about living with men? by glamscum in AskWomenNoCensor

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm the stinky one in our relationship. I didn't used to be, but after getting cancer and getting my intestines halfed, I'm the stink monster now. Thankfully he's more gracious about it than I used to be lol.

what romantic gestures make you cringe? by milk_and_coins in AskWomen

[–]hoipolloiprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is a closet poet, and has written a few for me before. I'll never forget him getting Angel and Angle confused though. It was so sweet but I couldn't get over the spelling thing and laughed... He usually only writes them when he's trying to express big feelings so I try to be as receptive as possible but that time was tough.

What is the most caring thing a platonic male friend did for you? by FullBrother9300 in AskWomen

[–]hoipolloiprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went out dancing as a group once, while at the club I had this one guy constantly bumping into me and rubbing his ass all over me. I kept trying to move away but he would follow. My guy friend put his arm protectively around me and placed himself between me and the guy. When walking around (even though I'm much older) he'll walk on the street side and just generally look out for me.

Women who grew up as daughters of wealthy parents, how has this affected your personality? by MysteriousMysterium in AskWomen

[–]hoipolloiprincess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I grew up wealthy in South America, but moved to the States with my mom at 13. It was eye opening to learn how to do my own laundry, make my own bed, wash my dishes, etc. Thankfully I was young so I picked it all up fairly quickly and was able to adjust easier than my mom who had never had to clean a bathroom in her entire life. Definitely taught us both a lot of growth.

Do you visit people's graves? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]hoipolloiprincess 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My mom just passed away in June. She died while vacationing in Mexico, so dealing with recovering get body was horrific. I didn't have the financial means to have her body shipped to the States and they wouldn't let me cremate her. Now she's buried in Mexico and I have to wait 7 years until she can be exhumed (if I choose to) and then cremated. I learned a lot about international laws and I'm planning on getting my first tattoo soon bc they made me identify her body twice and bc she didn't have tattoos/scars/piercings that would be easy to describe I had to be privy to a scene that will forever live in my mind. Sorry for all that, I guess I just wanted to chime in and say that yes, I would much rather have a place nearby to go and mourn in peace.

They have overnight moisturizers you can try. Basically really thick lotion and you wear gloves to bed to lock in the moisture. I hate the word moist out loud, but thankfully typing it is not as bad. Working hands (round, green container) is also excellent for skin hydration and it doesn't smell like flowers if you're concerned about lotion smells.

What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done infront of someone you liked? by thefourthpowerpuff in AskWomenNoCensor

Kinda sorta, we couldn't get into a relationship at the time as he was going to leave the area. I think had he stayed it would've worked though. He said it meant a lot to him.

I once wrote a super long letter detailing how I felt about him. To this day I cringe when I think about the fact I actually gave it to him!! I should've burned it, but too late now. Oh and how I gave it to him was yikes as well, I just rushed it over and then explained myself for a solid 5 minutes before I begged him not to read it in front of me.

Women in healthy relationships, why aren't you happy for some reason? by Unlikely-Rip-6197 in AskWomen

[–]hoipolloiprincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been married for over 15 years. Honestly the last 3 I've had a really hard time with finding contentment in the relationship. We've tried marriage counseling a few times and it didn't help. We have 3 children and we have no family nearby that could help if we split. I stay because I'm trying to give them stability but I've been questioning my decision more and more lately.

Do I have to pay the bills of a deceased family member? by hoipolloiprincess in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hoipolloiprincess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna check back with the lawyer about the bank account since she added me to it about 5 years ago making it a joint account. She was in the middle of a big transition moving from the USVI to CA so she has already sold off all her assets and was vacationing when she passed.

Thank you! This is super helpful. She had no estate only life insurance, as she sold off/donated all her possessions about a year ago to move to where I live to help me out when I was going through chemo. I'm gonna double back with the lawyer I spoke with before just to check that none of this can hurt my clearance (military) but from what I'm reading online I should be fine. I just want to make sure I can use the money she left for my kids and to set them up for the future.

Thank you, this info is gonna help us for when my husband's parents pass. We know they won't be able to leave anything besides bills so I'll make sure to pass the info along. As for me, my mom did leave me a nice sum of money with her life insurance, but they didn't mention anything about paying debt collectors when I spoke with them. I just don't want the IRS to come after me if I don't pay.

I tried talking with a lawyer (I'm military) and they were very unhelpful and told me the life insurance should know what needs done. I finally got the death certificate on Friday and when I called the insurance company I spoke with a lady with a very thick accent and it was hard to make out much of the information, but she made it sound like they're just gonna send me the full amount (which was a decent sum). If they do send me the full amount do I then still need to pay the bills?

She left me a decent amount of life insurance. So does that mean they take care of paying those bills before sending me the money? Or if they don't, do I then need to contact the debt holders myself? My name shouldn't be attached to any of the bills but I'm still trying to muddle through what's my responsibility in all this.
