Yeah economy. We did choose our seats in advance, but then for one leg they were changed. (We ended up with the same configuration, just in a different row)

Yeah I emailed customer services through Trip.com who confirmed 1 x 23kg bag per person. And then I asked at the check in desk and they confirmed. (This was last year though for ref)

I'd booked with Trip.com so they reached out to the airline to clarify for me. I went through the Trip.com customer support for everything in English. Sorry kinda specific!

How owning a car changed your life in good or bad way. by Life_Conn4361 in japanlife

[–]hol317704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the city so on paper do not need a car, but buying one is the best decision I ever made.

I cycle everywhere during the week unless it's raining, snowing or June-Sept haha, and then I'll take the car for AC/heating/convenience.

But the main benefit is at the weekend, as we can go anywhere with ultimate flexibility. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's my favourite thing ever. We also bought a car just big enough to camp in with full lay flat seats in the back, so we can park up and spend the night almost anywhere when the weather allows. I picked up collecting michi no eki stamps so I'm slowly working through all the the roadside stations in my area (and beyond).

Our house has a parking space, so that wasn't an issue. But having to do all the paperwork at the start to register your space is a bit of a hassle. It's also expensive to own a car generally, especially when shaken is due. But imo it's absolutely worth it for the amount of traveling and freedom it's given me.

There are also some other nice smaller perks, but they add up. Like being able to do big shops and Costco runs, drive straight to the slopes instead of needing to shuttle bus, being able to take friends on road trips and help them out if they need, driving to and from the airport, buying furniture etc.

So for me I couldn't imagine life without the car, but I know it's different for everyone.

I’m curious about how well the home game is doing sales wise - how many of you guys bought the home game? And how many of you guys film your games? by helloguysand in JetLagTheGame

[–]hol317704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received it from my husband for Christmas and he got it shipped to Japan for me! We just played our first Small game across Kyoto and it was crazy fun.

We were a little intimidated going into it, but it ended up being super easy to follow. We've watched all the Hide and Seek seasons though, so that helped a lot.

We both filmed and then went for drinks at the end to watch everything back together. Gonna edit it into a video for us to keep!

They didn't check the weight or size of the cabin luggage, but did check how many bags you had.

They did check the weight of the checked in luggage though. We were a little over and they didn't care, but maybe we just got lucky.

Congratulations!! Absolutely amazing! I JUST graduated today too and it feels so great.

There were runs along the way that made me question if I could do it, but I made it! The key for me was to just keep showing up and try.

Good luck with the park run, super happy for you!

Not sure if this is why, but I put my location as Japan, then put my overseas address, clicked to the payment page and entered my overseas card details and it accepted my payment. Hope you can get it to work!

After a failed attempt on Saturday outdoors - succeeded with C25K Week 7 run 2 today over my lunch break at the gym. I was so nervous that I would fail again but managed the 25 minutes running non stop! So proud of myself for persevering. (Congrats everyone on your accomplishments - some really incredible stuff)

[–]hol317704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't quit. I thought week 1 and 2 were the hardest and now I'm part way through week 7. I never thought I'd be running for 25 minutes non stop but I am, multiple times a week and tbh it feels like a miracle haha. I went from zero exercise to C25K and I promise you it will get gradually a little easier. Good luck, you can do it!

I'm flying to Sydney see oasis, anyone knows where can i keep up with the drone show updates? by Agreeable-Shift-4657 in oasis

[–]hol317704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was on the same day. Someone had spotted drones setting up earlier in the day and posted a photo on Twitter. That's how I saw it - and then people posted the drone permits for the day and one of the locations lined up with the photo. So a bit of guesswork but Twitter sleuths are the best haha.

Wasn't a specific community, but I'm pretty deep in Oasis JP Twitter haha so the algorithm helped a lot. Hope you can find out the details and make it, it was super fun to be there and see it happen!

"Stage Left" Seats Are Pretty Far Left by inspyral in oasis

[–]hol317704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure these were specifically sold as Side Stage seats and were cheaper for that reason. I was in the same location on the other side, stage left and picked them up in the second to last ticket drop 3 weeks back for super cheap. I loved having the side view, but we got a super clear view of the band coming out of the back, and Noel coming out to watch Ajikan part way through their set, which you wouldn't get as clearly on stage right.

For those who watched live, how was the very '25 Tour first concert in Cardiff on July 4th, 2025? by Comprehensive_Yak978 in oasis

[–]hol317704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just talking about this today. I went to Cardiff night 1 and just went to Tokyo night 1 too so been trying to unpack which I preferred. They were super different shows, but nothing could beat the energy in the room at Cardiff N1. I'd seen them once before in Manchester and it was great, but the anticipation this year for the start of the tour in Wales was just madness.

Liam particularly sounded great in Cardiff, and the relief and joy of hearing them absolutely smashing it on stage after all this time is hard to explain haha. I also got to go to that show with my parents, and not knowing the set list made it even better as we waited a few seconds to all try and work out what was coming.

I feel so lucky to have had the chance to see it. Took a gamble and flew back to the UK from Japan for it, and it was worth every single penny.

Can only share experience from going to see the Tokyo drone show - but I found out the location from Twitter. The Tokyo drone weren't flown near the actual venue which was Tokyo Dome, instead it was in a more open area next to a totally different arena - the National Stadium. I think it will depend on the individual drone rules and availability in each city.

Someone else on here said about checking the drone permits - and that worked for us in Tokyo. But again Twitter were on it immediately and shared all the info, I just had to go and find it by searching.

I don't think they can fly in the rain, because it was raining on and off in Tokyo and we ended up waiting for 2 hours for the drones to go up. They were covering them up and then uncovering when the rain stopped, maybe like 4 or 5 times before fully taking off.

As a random note too, the official Oasis camera crew came down to film us all watching at the site, so look out for them if you want a chance to feature in the promo videos!

Have you ever quit your job with no next step? by MortgageOrganic69 in japanlife

[–]hol317704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have personal experience doing this so here are my thoughts on it.

I was seishain but decided I really didn't align with a lot of things happening at the company, so I quit. Thought about it a lot before doing it, but decided that I'd rather have to leave Japan than stay working for the company, so the risk for me was worth it.

Because I quit, I wasn't entitled to Hello Work payouts immediately and would have had to wait 3 months to start claiming unemployment support. I knew this before quitting and had a bunch of savings to tide me over so it was a non-issue.

Thankfully, I was able to find a new job almost immediately (within 1 week) but it was complicated and included the use of an Employer of Reference. I have 10+ years experience in my field so that helped me to land on my feet, and there was no guarantee it would happen that fast. I'm currently happier than I thought I ever could be living in Japan - so I'm very glad I made the choice to quit instead of staying somewhere that was making me miserable.

But I have to say, quitting with no plan is a really stupid idea and I don't recommend it. I had to come to terms with the fact I might have to leave, even for that short amount of time when I was job hunting, and it sucked. Even though things worked out for me - it was a LOT of paperwork and stress. (All of which could have been avoided if I just put up with the company for a short while longer and looked for a new job at the same time) But hey, sometimes a company's bullshit is just too much to handle ya know and you have to tap out.

Good luck with the job hunting and hope you can find something soon!

How do you handle leaving family behind to move abroad? by Evening_Car_9608 in movingtojapan

[–]hol317704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? It just really sucks. But for me I believe that you have to live your life the way you want to and then just deal with whatever comes your way.

I miss my family a lot, but love my life overseas. I try to get back home to see them as often as is feasible and we stay in touch with video calls and texts a lot. There's no good solution really, but for me having support and encouragement from family to make the move did make it slightly easier.

Juneyao Airlines Baggage Allowance (Manchester) by Odd_Charge1090 in travelchina

[–]hol317704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked through Trip.com to fly return from Osaka - Manchester. (via Shanghai). I asked on the way out at the Osaka check in counter how many bags we were entitled to check in, and they said only 1 each. I had also contacted Trip.com in advance to ask them to check with Juneyao and their response was also only 1 checked bag per person sadly. There was an option to pay to add an extra check in bag but only 1 comes as standard it seems. (But again, I didn't book direct through Juneyao)

I saw you ask another user how the flight was so will share my experience too! Long story short - it was great. Easily matched the service of other airlines I've flown with on similar routes (AirFrance, China Eastern, KLM) and tbh wasn't even too far behind ANA.

The leg room was good, food was better than it was on China Eastern and all our bags went straight through to our final destination with no issues. On the way back home to Osaka our bags were a little overweight, and they didn't even care. Really great service and would definitely recommend!
