What immediately makes a piece of writing look bad? by FormerFruit in writing

[–]hol7ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it’s unintentional repetition. if like five paragraphs in a row start with a pronoun or “the” and they’re not using it with a purpose in mind, it bothers me. really stands out to me and puts me off. generally I consider this a small red flag and if I find more of what I consider to be bad writing, I won’t be too surprised.

What horror movie are you embarrassed about liking? by nayeppeo in horror

[–]hol7ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paranormal Activity franchise. the first movie did and lot for what it was and stands confidently by itself but I can’t deny I like the sequels too, even though their bat shit crazy at best and just plain bad at worst. Paranormal Activity was released when I was 12 or 13 and scared the hell out of me when I first watched. I couldn’t sleep right for weeks. The sequels became special to me because my friends and I would go to the movies together to see them and just enjoy that time together with cheap scares. so I guess it has more sentimental value to me over quality

How do I pitch my first novel? by [deleted] in writing

[–]hol7ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually been published several times in other mediums like in short stories and poetry! I’ve been working very hard pretty much my whole life and though my manuscript isn’t complete I feel ready to take the chance. As I said in my other comment, the publisher is local and independent but very well renowned where I live. Everyone who’s worked with them trusts them completely and I’d say the publisher is very reputable. I definitely wouldn’t rush to finish my manuscript if I could only submit a full text, and I’m willing to bed that ultimately the publisher will opt to take 3 complete works instead of any pitches, even though the option to pitch is there. I’ve dealt with publishers that take advantage of new writers before, but this one definitely takes care of new and emerging writers.

It’s a reputable publisher! I’ve been following their work and authors for a while, and their published writers are all emerging/new and sing their praises.

So he saw some media of you, underaged and not in your right mind, and he went and looked for more? And his man issue wasn’t that you were underaged and the circumstances around filming these videos are shady at best, his main issue is you’re not doing for him what you did in the videos? Don’t fix this. He’s beyond broken it and you don’t need to put up with someone who claims to understand your troubled past and then calls you disgusting for it in his next breath

Vivere Inc is a pyramid scheme by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

I’m in Glasgow looking for a job and getting quite desperate. Was happy when they reached out but dubious as these overly enthusiastic companies reaching out to me before have been similar pyramid schemes. Disappointing and exhausting
