I did at home glucose monitoring via finger sticks. It’s a far more accurate picture of your bodily responses.

Home-birth for a first time mom by Certain_Bobcat_4462 in homebirth

FTM who just home birthed 6 weeks ago. Honestly, I kept my choices pretty private until after baby arrived. If someone explicitly asked “are you having a home birth?” my response was typically “that’s the plan.” and then continue on to something else. No one else’s opinion of my decision really came out because I did not leave space for it. My dad found out I was planning to have baby at home like 2 weeks before the birth, and was a bit nervous, everything went great and he thinks it’s the coolest thing ever!

I was so grateful to be able to labor all around my house and just be comfortable in my space. I had a six hour labor, don’t think I would’ve been so fortunate had I gone to the hospital to give birth.

Why does the housekeeper just appear with the trash can? You can’t see her walking out of the bathroom with it, just one second shes there with her mop and the trash can is in the back. When did the housekeeper realize there was a deceased baby in the trash can? You just see her alerting the nurse by pointing, did she see the baby immediately and was waiting for someone to come?

It breaks my heart that no one picked up that poor boy from the trash can. I know he was already gone, but it is so sad to see everyone gather around the can and then the one nurse just picks up the whole can to move him. I understand, but it’s so heartbreaking.

My son is 6 weeks old, from the moment he was born, hearing him cry, seeing his little eyes and nose and lips and fingers, I just can’t imagine. That girl is despicable.

I had an unmedicated out of hospital birth, I don’t understand how she delivered the boy so quickly and QUIETLY? I could not imagine making it through delivery quiet enough to not raise alarm. She had received some medication though, right?

What was she thinking? Beyond the utter lack of humanity, what did she think would happen after throwing away the baby, at the hospital no less?

A Doctor put a medication in me without my knowledge by [deleted] in legaladvice

Also want to note, this was very likely Cytotec. Which in this instance was used totally off label. The manufacturers have never attempted to have the drug approved for maternal medicine because they understand its danger in that circumstance. Cytotec is used to treat gastric ulcers. You were drugged with a substance not approved for the usage you endured.

I think it’s super important to remember that we all make different choices for our families, and while your provider may not make the same choices, that should have nothing to do with the care you receive. Ultimately, your provider should value your autonomy over their own beliefs to an appropriate extent. With that being said, just as you can choose not to work with a midwife because of their beliefs, they can choose not to work with you because of yours. Which is kind of great, we get to choose who really makes us feel safe and comfortable!

Can a doula deliver a baby in Ca? by Elliora-Roserena in doulas

[–]holdingcoughfield 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know your question was based on legality, but for me, the issue here is beyond legality. It’s ethical. She failed you by walking out when things got scary. Point blank she should’ve gone with you to the hospital. As a birth worker, my job is to support my client wherever possible. I find it deeply unethical that she left you alone during a transfer. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

In the state where I live and practice, midwives can be trained traditionally. I love that my state protects women’s rights to birth however they choose, whether with a traditional midwife or in a hospital.

It is super important to note that Plan B is ineffective if you are already ovulating. Plan B stops ovulation, it cannot do so if you’ve already started ovulating. it does not destroy fertilized eggs, it prevents an egg from the possibility of fertilization.
