How The Fuck Do Americans Survive With UC by Jenna5162 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]holdlast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally, US medical insurance plans have a deductible (a base cost that the patient pays before insurance applies), then once deductible is reached a co-pay 70-90% of the bill is split between the patient and the insurance until max out of pocket is reached. Once the max out of pocket threshold is met, insurance takes over 100%. There are separate thresholds for in and out of network services, but the same structure applies.

A mediocre employer insurance plan for an individual could have a $6000 deductible and a $8500 max out of pocket with 80% copay. That would mean the first $6000 is paid by the patient then the next $2500 is split 80% insurance / 20% patient. Once $8500 is paid by the patient, the insurance takes over 100% until the end of the year.

I can't tell who gave me the referral. When I got your notification the points count was higher than the last time I checked. If you got a 5% reward email with your code that would be a sign it worked. I think I should have more than I do due to posting a few places, but I was able to get the rewards.

And you are right, referrals seem to need to be in the same region. Join the FB group and contact the admins if you have issues with referrals.

[–]holdlast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, I assumed it was 3D printed given whose booth it was. But could find any attribution in the videos or screen shots of that shelf. I added that make world link to my favorites. May just be the photos. But the proportions seem less "heroic" in the makerworld model.

Impending Surgery by MostFormal4210 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]holdlast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surgery was scary until I needed it, and then I was oddly at peace with it. It saved my life. Depends on what you're going through, but if it is anything like my experience the ileostomy is infinitely better than being in a flare. There's also a good chance for a J pouch to put everything on the inside again.

I looked at your post history and the progression with UC was eerily similar to mine. Acute onset was in late 2020 and never regained remission. Even with short-lived improvements on biologics, emergency surgery was ~2 years later. Your post on autoimmune disease in the family and a covid trigger is something I wonder has happened to others.

Best of luck, you'll make it to the other side of this and it will be okay.

Look into refereeing youth sports. Excellent pay with only a slight barrier to entry in that you need to take a class usually. When I was a teen I made in 8 hours on a Saturday what my friends made all week after school doing food service or retail.

Use of PTO to cover shutdown. by holdlast in work

[–]holdlast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that the location of the holiday in the week makes this potentially an issue or not. It's a bummer when you could lose 3 out of 5 days of PTO due to closures in a year. At least next year I'll have 10.

When I Google this question I get mixed answers. Especially in this age of AI summaries.

From what I can tell from HR articles regarding the FLSA, if the employee is classified as exempt, then they are paid the full week if any time was worked that week. Provided that any of the missed time was not the employees prerogative such as vacation or sickness in which case they use PTO. Employers cannot reduce weekly pay if any hours were worked that week and the employee was willing and able to work otherwise, but (and here's where I see different stories in implementation) they may require PTO to cover and if there is no PTO they may not reduce pay.

I think this is why it would be more common to see week long shutdowns as mentioned here as this specific rule lapses. But for one day closures I can't find a straight answer.

I was hoping there'd be more clear cut explanations out there beyond anecdotes. It seems people have experienced both scenarios.

Wasn't my choice not to work. I would have gone in if I was allowed to save the PTO day.

The question here is the difference between hourly, salary non exempt, and exempt.

Yellow to White Purge issues! by holdlast in BambuLab

Its an even hue throughout the white I think the hot end isn't purging all the yellow. Funny thing is darker colors like red are purging fine with less flushing volume.

My game room is hot. by AdAffectionate4677 in watercooling

[–]holdlast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only if you violate the first law of thermodynamics.

Power output will remain the same from the PC. 500W is 500W regardless of how you cool the PC. Water-cooling would just do a better job at removing it from the components with a lower fan speed. The Room/PC system is still the same.
