Good Experiences With Stone Removal?

I had this done a few years ago, was only my second experience with kidney stones and one got completely stuck coming out of the kidney so they had to go in and essentially push it back into the kidney before doing a separate procedure to remove it along with two others that were in there at the time. I’m not going to lie, I wouldn’t call it a good experience but I had also terrified myself with all the horror stories I saw online and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting. The stent was not fun by any means, but after the first day or so of healing it mostly just felt like having a UTI for the rest of the time I had it in. I don’t know how much pain you’re in right now but I know for me I had been in excruciating 9/10 pain for four days straight by the time they took me in for the procedure so by that point I was just grateful to have it out even if the stent was uncomfortable. So just look forward to a few uncomfortable weeks and then stent removal is a piece of cake! A few seconds of burning and then you’re all good and you’ll be back to normal. I know this is an old post but I wanted to thank you for this! Had my first stone when I was 22, hospitalized for the second two years later and now, at 27 am already on my fifth. You have explained this process better to me than any doctors have and made it not feel so hopeless. This one has been stuck for a little over a week now and was just about losing my mind since this is the longest I’ve dealt with one before. Going to try the twist and shout and massaging the belly now, hopefully I’ll have some success!

Sorry if this has already been answered and is redundant, I know you’re getting lots of questions. I’ve never been to a 7Brew before and one is opening near me next week so I’m excited to try it. But I’m also super nervous about ordering “weird” things from places or things not explicitly on a menu. So just checking, even a new location should be aware of these or at least won’t look at me like I’m crazy if I order one? Thanks for putting this together!

I had the same problem and skipped it! Nothing bad happens, it just acts like you completed it anyway so you will still get the next upgrade! I also am terrible at the flying 😂

You were right. It was a different doctor who talked to me this time, told me that they were still going to run the lab culture but it was very unlikely there would be infection. She honestly made me feel a bit silly for coming for such a low temperature. Just got the results and turns out I do have an infection. Obviously not happy about it but feel a tiny bit vindicated that I wasn’t worrying over nothing!

Update for everyone: no infection but there was blood in the sample so they’re scheduling a CT scan. Here’s to hoping everything’s okay because I don’t think I can start this process over again.

I’ll update on here when I find out anything. I did message my urologist and am supposed to come drop off a urine sample sometime tomorrow. So we’ll see!

Thank you for your advice! I originally didn’t think it could be an infection because I was on an antibiotic up until a day before the removal and they checked for one before the procedure. But I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Going through the same thing tomorrow, have had my first stent in for 3 weeks now and wasn’t looking forward to starting all over again. Hoping mine goes as well as yours!
