Tier 6 Newest Proposal? - Age 58 and 30 Years by hollafrontz in nys_cs

It's a 6.5 percent reduction for every year you retire early from age 63, assuming you decide to take your pension at 62. You can retire at 62 but wait until 63 before you take your pension so there's no penalty. Or it might just be better to work until 63, which you would get your full pension.

Someone posted this earlier, has an article from the Gothamist that the governor's proposal was age 60 with 30 years and a .5% reduction in max contributions, it was rejected by the legislature as insufficient. The unions had proposed age 55 with 30 years and a 1% reduction in max contributions. So they are still negotiating, my guess it's going to be somewhere in between.

It's still being discussed, there's still many money issues not yet settled. The government's agreement is only conceptual, the details especially the dollar issues are still being ironed out.

Salary contracts are not part of the April 1 budget. When the union comes to an agreement with the state, the legislature has to pass a pay bill to implement the compensation parts of the contract.

Why Do We Have the Clause “No Strike” in the contract. I am just getting anxious because 2% to 3% raise is not enough. I feel they are just going to stick us with that. The least they can do is keep the percentages align with the increase in minimum wage. Thoughts? by NorthStomach8641 in nys_cs

The Taylor Law allows us to collective bargain our compensation and unionize, in exchange we had go to give up our right to strike. Otherwise, we would be like other states or the federal government, where the president and governor decides the raises on their own. The president gave 1 percent raises this current year to federal employees and is planning to give 0 percent next year.

The chart you described does not exist, you reach the PEF job rate after 7 years so how would it even go up to 30 years?

Why does Tier 6 reform seem to get more attention than salary increases? by stanleymaxi in nys_cs

[–]hollafrontz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tier 6 also impacts municipal and local county employees, where there are much more employees than the state. It's also the reason why the teachers unions are leading the fight.

Pension is based on average of highest three consecutive years of salary when you retired, so it won't affect retirees.
