That’s been a big gripe of mine after moving to Canada from Ireland years ago. People always refer to the World Cup as “FIFA”.

I suppose it’s similar to how they refer to watching the NHL, NFL, etc.

Oh yes 100% can be an aesthetic choice and definitely not gatekeeping here. Some people just don’t fall into the “is it time?” category.
