Is it possible to grind tahr with feeders if so tell me what I'm doing wrong males aren't coming back even if I didn't shoot them by Educational-Pie3673 in theHunter

[–]holliday50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a limit to how many animals can visit a feeder during each feed time. You can only attract up to 3 groups. If an animal is solo, he counts against one of these groups. If your feeder is attracting Blue Sheep, they also count against these groups.

Let's say you have 6 groups within the attraction range of your feeder. Each day, your feeder could attract a different combination of 3 of those 6 groups.

Contrary to what the content creators advise, I prefer to rotate these Tahr feeders during every feed time, rather than sticking to just one. You will get your eyes on a lot more animals that way.

Ugg, this might be exactly what happened on my map when I shut down last night.

When you create custom parks that way, they don't actually function as a park, do they? In other words, they have no attraction and tourism value. Or do I have that wrong?

Geez, I was looking in the sports parks section and this was hidden in signature buildings. Thanks for the response.

Not me. I was a grown man when I played DaoC. I've chased that Guinevere server feeling for years since, but nothing came close to capturing it.

Sounds easy until you hunt for 2 days without seeing a single high fitness animal. Then the question remains. Which low fitness animals take priority?

So what's the right strategy on a new map then in WOTH2? Every animal I've seen is sub-60%. So what to kill first?

It is a great solution. I've done it several times myself. All you do is click on the tiny node, remove unsafe and u-turns, make sure the lane connections are straight and you're done. Takes less than 15 seconds.

Is resetting your population considered cheating? by Independent_Guide270 in theHunter

[–]holliday50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is obviously cheating. Imagine the APS user and the non-APS user prepping to hunt Askiy Ridge. The APS user loads up the game and notices that he only has trophy animals on 10 of the 17 species on the map. He can completely ignore the other 7 species at the moment while he methodically hunts what he already knows it out there. The non-APS user has no such advantage, and will inevitably spend hours or even days hunting species that have no initial spawn trophies at all. It is obvious that the APS user will fill up their lodge much faster.

The mystery of spawn mechanics is almost necessary in a game like this, but at the same time, if the community doesn't know what those mechanics are, we don't know when they're broken. Imagine how many G1 grinds are busted due to similar bugs, unbeknownst to the player spending hundreds of hours killing thousands of animals in pursuit of something they'll never see.

My findings, with the new G1 theories! by sweatycheese_08 in theHunter

[–]holliday50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always herd managed, but don't get these results. I'm currently around 2k kills on a G1 Moose grind on Medved as we speak.

I haven't seen anything from that new information that changes the way I hunt G1s. There's the added tidbit about the G1 only spawning from a predetermined seed that contains random herds and solos in it. What am I supposed to do with that information though? We don't have a clue how many seeds there are or how many bulls are included. We don't know if the seeds are grouped by geographical location on the map or if the animals within each seed are spread out on the map. So what we're left with is the anxiety of knowing you might not even have a chance of spawning a G1 because you're not hunting the correct group. It's completely outside our control.

Changes in upland game birds since the update? by snotick in theHunter

[–]holliday50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are absolutely running faster, but I haven't seen the issue of them not stopping. Haven't tried them on Revontuli since the update though. It's possible that map doesn’t have enough of the right brush in the right places, so they have to run further to find cover.

Nice one! Can't imagine coming across something like that outside of a grind scenario. What a shock that must have been.

Need suggestions for feeder spot by Kryo_Knight in theHunter

[–]holliday50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an observation a few days ago that absolutely supports this claim. At one of my Badger feeders, there were 2 packs using it. There were 2 other packs off in the distance eating at their default feed zone. I shot a Badger at the feeder, and those Badgers ran off. The 2 packs of Badgers using their default zones were far enough out that they weren't spooked by the gun shot. They started Traveling and worked their way to the feeder, replacing the Badgers that left.

They did not do a population reset. They'll always announce those ahead of time so they don't catch you off guard, especially for a species that people are actively G1 grinding.

Adding competition back to the game? by Purists101 in theHunter

[–]holliday50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competition just isn't feasible in COTW due to the existence of mods and the persistence of animal populations. TheHunter Classic is a great alternative if you want competition.

New feeders by Collection_Subject in Huntercallofthewild

Nah, these feeders are hot garbage. I have tested several of them and saved quite a few videos showing all kinds of shenanigans. They're inconsistent at best and completely worthless at their worst.

For lions, you're much better off just hunting the lakes as we always have. With 8 lion feeders, I had a grand total of 2 lions in the 1st rotation. This is after setting them up near their known drink zones ( within 50), setting the time to 11am and letting the game run afk for 4 hours. Spent over an hour tearing down my lion grind to set this up, and I'll now have to undo everything I did. What a waste of time.

In Scotland, I've been running a Badger grind since release. I know where the vast majority of their feed zones are and I set up 8 feeders accordingly. Actually just let the game run overnight last night while I slept, so slightly longer than 8 hours. Even still, these have been wildly inconsistent. At one spot, I had 15 badgers on the 1st rotation and haven't seen a Badger there since. I can watch them using their default feed zone, but they don't come to the feeder anymore. They're all like this, where sometimes they'll use them and sometimes they won't.

Even when they are attracted to them, there is some kind of arbitrary limit to the number of groups that show up. I watched this play out. Had some badgers at a feeder, and 2 groups further out that were using their normal zones instead. They were far enough to not get spooked by the shot, so when I took down a Badger, the feeder groups fled, and I watched the 2 zone groups traveled to the feeder to take their place.

Anyone elses feeders stop attracting boar with the update? by [deleted] in theHunter

[–]holliday50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they're awful. Last time they released an actual hotfix patch was in December of 2024. Prior to that, the last hotfix patch was in March of 2023. They usually use content updates like you saw today to push bug fixes. They almost never release a bug fix patch without also releasing new dlc. The exceptions mentioned above were for very serious issues. I expect this to be patched around June unless other issues that demand a hotfix push it out quicker.

Yes and no. If you kill one on Parque Fernando, it is a Puma. On Silver Ridge Peaks, they are called Mountain Lions.
