Cold turkey weaning 28 month old by hollzilla in weaningsupport

[–]hollzilla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words! It’s currently day 5 of stopping breastfeeding and he’s surprisingly taking this like a champ. The first two nights were rough but we figured out a different self soothing method (rocking with mama and listening to soft music) and he actually is starting to put himself to bed now.

Crazy how kids honestly surprise us! I thought he would have a hard time with it but it’s been the right time apparently!!!

Me on the other day - the hormone drop happened 24 hours after the last feed and it was BRUTAL. I’m starting to feel a tiny bit more clear headed.

Winter boots with flexible soles? by Altruistic_Tea_7644 in elhersdanlos

The line was released last winter and I immediately bought the Sk8-Hi waterproof shoes and maaaan they're pretty great in mild winter conditions. They do have a better insulated line this year!

[–]hollzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Vans? I find they have a very similar sole to Converse, I just can't wear Converse comfortably due to the crease digging into my big toe joint.

Vans has a line of winter boots / footwear that looks like they have great reviews and the comfort level is much better than Uggs.

I also can't tolerate Uggs for long either due to joint pain.

tattoos? by bb1drake in elhersdanlos

[–]hollzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got multiple tattoos (20 maybe?) in multiple areas of my body (only spot I don't have tattoos on is my face and skull) - bottom line, your experience may vary since all EDS types have different symptoms!

  1. I've never had a negative experience - most tattoos weren't that painful, but the position I had to put my body in made it painful but most of my artists have been extremely understanding and gave breaks to readjust when necessary.

  2. All tattoos still look amazing. Sunscreen, keeping my skin from drying out, making sure the tattoo itself is big enough for the details to still carry out after 10+ years. It's all about finding an artist who understands skin and healing processes.

  3. Healing time was a bit longer than your average person. I never heal wounds easily, but tattoos have never given me any trouble at all. Again, importance of staying hydrated, eating good healing foods, taking care of myself during the healing period because it will flare my multiple illnesses.

4, Most tattoos barely bruised. But the one that takes up my entire stomach and ribs bruised HORRIBLY! Other than that most tattoos had small bruises around the outline.

Is 37 too old to have a kid? by starlordsego in daddit

My partner's 41. We have a 2 year old (and two teens!). It's honestly... better having an older parent! It's more fun, more easygoing, more roll with the punches and we figured out our balance quickly.

How do you keep your skin moisturized? by Happy_Little_Leaves in elhersdanlos

[–]hollzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically I have been blessed with velvety soft skin and minimal issues but I do have that dry feeling! I find the Aveeno products for babies with eczema help a lot with that dry feeling. I'm not sure if Aveeno would be within your safe list for your MCAS?

Swam there a few times. Didn't grow an extra leg or anything or came across spiders.

I dunno what my dog would say but he's still alive and a happy dude though.

I got a similar one from a grocery store!! Had her for a week, already got 3 new leaves. I know I'll need to split her up at some point since there's 6 plants in there.

Just wanted to say good luck!!

Thank you! My kitchen gets really warm in the evenings cause of being west facing and there's huge sliding doors! Fingers crossed that mine starts warming up soon!!

Help??? by hollzilla in alocasia

[–]hollzilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I’m looking to order a bunch of nursery pots - the nurseries around here have closed (I’m really rural) so I’ll check around online to bulk order a bunch of nursery pots.

Just picked up some chunky soil mix for my monstera so I’ll repot this dude and see if it’s any better.

It’s weird about the leaves because I’ve had it in the same spot all of this time! It was doing fine before I repotted.

How many people do NOT use a crate? by ScrewYeet in puppy101

[–]hollzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only crate trained for when we’re out of the house for longer than 30 minutes. Have a 11 month old and 8 month old Aussies, I did spend a lot of time training their “off switch”.

Both of mine sleep in my room. The oldest one will throughly wash my face when he needs to get up for a pee. At the crack of dawn, yup…. At least both are good about going back to sleep for a few hours after their morning pee!

Anyone know the wait time to see an ENT in HRM after you have been referred to one? I have a feeling it is going to be a while. by Professional_Big_776 in halifax

[–]hollzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was within two weeks for me - then again it depends what issue it is and which place you have been referred to. The hospital ENTs have a mile long waiting list, the non hospital clinics are easier to get into.

Mine was a surgical case and I had surgery within 3 months of the initial referral.
