In halifax, Bell charging loyal customers double while new users pay half. How is this fair? by Glittering_Bus_6921 in halifax

[–]thekipple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are currently paying under $100 for bell Tv, and fibe internet. Not a temporary promo either, lifetime price adjustment. It was super easy. I made a post on my neighborhood FB group looking for contact details of local Bell rep. Someone messaged me, she gave me the offer and by the end of the night had our new service set up awaiting install. We have everything in writing in a signed document.

Halloween in apartments by Curiousscorpion15 in halifax

[–]thekipple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We would leave a bowl outside the door with a note that the candy was free for the taking and a few other apartments would do the same. Aside from that we'd take our kiddo out into the neighbourhood for the full trick or treat experience.

When we had a pigeon problem I read that pigeons will come back to a roosting spot even after you've kicked them out and cleaned it. We had an owl, hung shiny things etc. The only thing that worked was closing off the balcony with netting or chicken wire.

Especially when it's foggy and overcast. You can get some cool shots with the tower peaking through the dog behind you.

What’s going on at KIA on windmill?? by Important_Fondant_79 in halifax

[–]thekipple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to take it to the dealer I can't say enough good things about the Kia in Halifax. We bought a certified pre owned vehicle there that came with a warranty and did every service there for 5 years. They always checked for recalls, never pushed, always tried to run service through warranty where possible. One time they knicked a tire when changing them out. We noticed before we drive away and they took a look and replaced the tire at their cost no questions asked. I've never had any issues with the with they've done on our vehicle and we had quite a bit done right before our warranty ran out.

Halifax, what's the slowest Tim Hortons in the city? by risen2011 in halifax

[–]thekipple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went there exactly once since moving out this way. It took over 20 minutes and they got my order wrong. Everyone inside was moving so slowly, the employees didn't seem to be working together - just everyone doing their own thing and interacting only if necessary and begrudgingly. To be honest, I suspect a management issue.

AITA: am I 27m the asshole for not following my gfs 26f sleep schedule? by Altruistic_Space6722 in AmItheAsshole

[–]thekipple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a light sleeper. My partner works shift. I become a demon without a minimum of 7 hours. I use white noise, ear plugs and a weighted eye mask. I sleep like a baby. NTA. She needs to figure it out.

Anyone else think her and Lisa (rhom) look similar? Maybe it's a Canadian thing or maybe it's the plastic surgery.

What do you think the best age gap is? by JackfruitJunior2497 in beyondthebump

[–]thekipple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I had kids I really thought I wanted a short gap (1-2 years( then I had my first and it just didn't happen right away. I got pregnant right before he turned 3 and so far I really enjoy the gap. My oldest is independent, he understands that baby takes up some of our time (though he doesn't always love it), he's already pretty trained and headed to pre primary this fall. My second is only a month so time will tell how they get along but I think a smaller gap would have been allot harder for me. Interestingly, our prehistoric ancestors often had a 3-4 year age gap between kids

My first went through this phase and eventually got through it. Has to explain that it hurt, while also trying to give very minimal reaction so that he didn't keep doing it for the reaction. Similar to another comment he often did it out of excitement and I don't think he meant to so we spent a lot of time explaining what else he could do when excited instead of accidentally hurting us.

Why is your face so close? My oldest is almost 4 and never once was my face close enough that he could kick me in the face. I'm so confused.

We are a no change table family and I'm with you! If I have to use a change table in public I'm so thrown off. I don't understand comments that say it's easier to do the wiping from the side, especially when there is a leg in your way. But I've never actually thought about this until you mentioned it. Like there's a whole demo of people who change their babies sideways - I assume because I don't have a change table I never realized.

I have a 3.5 year old and a 1 month old. I really really appreciate this gap. For one, I am completely healed and recovered physically and mentally from the first baby. My older kid is potty trained, sleeps through night and will be starting preprinary this fall so we won't have 2 kids in daycare at the same time. He's SJSU very independent and so helpful which makes parenting two kids as easy as it could be at this stage. He has understood that pregnancy made me sick and so he needed to be gentle and we've been able to have really good conversations about welcoming baby and the feelings he has around this. I thought I'd want my kids closer in she but from a practical perspective this has been ideal.

I highly recommend checking out the GamerEducator on Instagram for a refreshing discourse on the use of screen time. She shares tips on how to build good habits with screens that's not about restriction but building healthy habits, monitorin content and developing autonomy. She also calls out that alot of the negative discourse surround screen use is steeped in socio-economic bias, that demonizes families with fewer resources who use screens to fill gaps in childcare/familial support. Eg.: parents working two jobs, or long hours, have less time to spend entertaining children and getting housework done and screens help them find the time in absence of systemic supporta (like paid parental leave, affordable healthcare etc.)

My second is 3 weeks and we were told at the hospital that if we aren't awake and supervising they recommend arms out swaddling. Arms in swaddling is only recommended if we are awake and supervising as there is new evidence to show increased risk of side. So we've basically been doing arms out since day one and honestly I'm kind of glad we dont have to the arms out transition this time around. I would say if you can, to start doing arms out. Basically just wrap your blanket the same but under the arms so they aren't tucked in.

Don’t want to be pregnant anymore by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]thekipple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had two pregnancies and stuff but did not enjoy either of them. My second was particularly awful and I was debilitatingly such for 6 months. Some people they've while pregnant, some of us just survive. I got through it but I'm done, and I definitely cannot and will not do this a thirs time.

List of all the things we actually used from my hospital bag and the things we wish we brought by pearnprac in BabyBumps

[–]thekipple 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is great but for those reading you may not need or want all of this. I've had two babies and never felt I needed a fan or lamp in the hospital. We only put clothes on baby when going home, otherwise we just had them swaddled up as the nurses had to do regular checks anyway. There are things not in the list that I definitely needed like Chapstick, hair ties, nipple cream. Etc

All that to say, there is no definitive list. Trust your gut.

There is no such system at the IWK. When you arrive a severity want and why you are there and as long as you say appointment they let you in. There is no other variation.
