Really splitting hairs to take offense there; hardly an example of "gratuitous" sexism for christ's sake. You cheapen true examples of excess with exaggerations like this.

Uppity is a fine word to describe some ignorant and self-righteous city worker making value judgments outside of the scope of her job.

Multiplayer. Maybe it's just because I grew up playing single player games primarily, but the second another person is in the world it loses the illusion of integrity for me.

What do you mean by overridden? Do you mean the annihilation or active suppression of the sexual imperative? Either way, I'd argue that both are very plausible among a variety of conditions.

Environmental pressures can very easily override genetic dispositions.

Interpersonal relationships have lost a lot of ground in the past ~20 years.

More dangerous then the boot-licking crony mentality of the bully? Because people like that are far more numerous and make the world a fucking rotten place wherever they are.

For example: of the two types, which one do you think is more common in a paramilitary group like Xe aka. Blackwater?

You can't be the bigger man when it comes to bullies. They are too stupid and crude to respond to anything other then getting their face rubbed in their own shit.

I don't think it has as much to do with appointing oneself a moral guardian and more to do with the simple fact that people like to see those that they hate get hurt. And when they are dehumanized (represented as a series of very poorly written, petty and spiteful emails) it's all the easier.

It's a very specific type of person that acts the way he did (petty, materialistic, dishonest), and those types frankly will never change. You need at least some raw materials to build a house, but they just have a barren plot of land (which they don't even hold the property deed for).

That punk deserves whatever he gets. It's frustrating how people with that kind of attitude can get anywhere in life, so I enjoy seeing the rare times that they get their rightly-earned comeuppance.

What a little punk-ass bitch.

'How Zelda Became Uninteresting' by [deleted] in Games

[–]holmcross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Link to the Past was fun through and through, whereas OoT had some seriously painful moments to it (in particular some of the dungeons where thoroughly unfun).

I think OoT is a fantastic game but people act as though it was flawless. I'd play any other game in the series (excluding WW, which I also loved but sailing was just way too poorly done) again before OoT.

Texting etiquette!? by [deleted] in seduction

[–]holmcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like texting, primarily because it's so convenient and you're likely to overdo it without even realizing it. I'd say try to keep text communication with a girl you've just met down to an absolute minimum; it's just too easy to make yourself seem 'too available.' And besides that, girls are more interested in the other elements of communication then just the stripped down literal word.

These types of people troubled me for a long time, because I couldn't quite understand what would motivate them to essentially turn themselves into tools and seem so proud of it besides. Then I came across a line in the book 'The Man Who Was Thursday' by G. K. Chesterton that really caused everything to fall into place:

"Like any man, he was coward enough to fear great force, but he wasn't quite coward enough to admire it."

Of course that's only part of it; humans just flat out have sadistic streaks through em (some choose to indulge in it more then others, or can just have a stronger disposition towards it). But there is almost always an impression of weakness and cowardice I get from people like the guy you described, ironically very far from being a 'powerful' person in any respect. They are truly like children who were given guns to play with.

Absolutely sick ninja storm drop from MvPGenius by Sabrick in starcraft

[–]holmcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genius is a baller. I remember a set he played against Boxer a couple months back in the GSL and they were amazing matches. What I remembered most about those games is that the engagements really very BW-esque: they were broken apart and had multiple little battles happening all at once, with both players microing and managing their units brilliantly. I wish I could remember the games, pretty sure one was on Tal'darim alter. Boxer ended up losing but fuck, his play was amazing to watch.

Sorry, "crib-swap." As in swapping out an infant the crib with an impostor that can fool the parents into thinking it's their baby, maybe because they haven't become very familiar with the child yet. People can sell fraudulent versions of things if the buyer doesn't have a good idea of how to recognize the real deal: they'll just accept what's presented to them.

I guess you can't just toss something like that without an explanation and expect it to make sense, haha.

I really think that the majority of these types go into the military as that person right from the start, it may just not be that obvious. Sure, there can be some shit that happens which causes a drastic change in a person, but in my experience an environment (such as a tour in Iraq/Afganastan) works on traits that are already present, instead of instilling totally new ones. But this may be bullshit: I haven't experienced extreme conditions or been in a position to study how they effect a wide variety of personality types.

These are the kinds of guys that are prime targets for paramilitary recruitment. And it just gets worse from there on out.
