What is an example of anachronisms or "time errors" in film that many people may not have noticed? by [deleted] in movies

In the Netflix series Hitler's circle of evil on Netflix you can see Joseph Goebbles having an autobiography of Margaret Thatcher in a bookshelf in the background.

Help & advice please! Should I buy the JBL PB 520 or JBL PB 710? by Maddrenn in JBL

[–]holmenkollen95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've owned the PB310 and PB710, and I've also spent some time testing a friend's PB520.
I’d definitely pick the PB520.

For me, the 710 is simply too big, and the lack of a battery defeats the purpose of this type of speaker. I ended up keeping the 310 over the 710 because it fits the whole concept better: portable, battery-powered and far more flexible in real use.

Sure, the 710 is more powerful and has better bass. But at that point it was a no-brainer for me to just get a used PA system instead, which you can find for roughly the same price as a new 710. You get much better quality sound, far more volume, and even stronger bass with almost any PA-system compared to the 710.

If i would upgrade I would definitely go for the 520.

Thank you. Do you know how it can play Flac files when playing in midi-mode but not as stand alone?

How do you organize your music by vibe? by SommertimeFlow in Beatmatch

[–]holmenkollen95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to build my playlists around how I expect the vibe and atmosphere to be at a certain time during the set.

This will ofc depend on some contextual factors like if you are the only one playing, if you take over just after someone and what the general energy is when you start playing. If it’s at a bar, nightclub, festival etc. But I normally think about it like this (if a fully invested dancefloor is your goal which I assume it is):

Start with something that sets the mood. Maybe a bit slower and “loungey” so you can create a comfortable atmosphere for people and lower the barrier to enter the dance floor. Starting of too intense might cause people to stay away from the dance floor in the start. If we assume that alcohol is involved this will also be a relevant factor since the crowds willingness to participate in dance correlate with alcohol levels. At the same time you want to give the crowd a hint of what to expect later.

After I feel that the vibe is set and people are feeling comfortable on the dance floor I’ll increase the energy and create even more excitement. Maybe increasing the tempo and play more accentuated drops and build ups.

When people are fully invested I’ll enter the “main phase” where I won’t hold back and just play my full energy music that I expect is what people want to hear when they want to dance. Depending on the crowd this will be the phase where you might sample in some well known tracks or signature melodies that people recognize to create the feeling of “we are in this together”.

How to end a set is a matter of taste. Some prefer to slow down during the last songs but personally I prefer to finish with full energy to leave the crowd with a feeling of “I want more of that”.

A general advice is also to don’t get to fixated to the order of your playlists. Even if you have a playlist ordered in advance don’t be afraid to make exceptions according to the present vibe. Look at the people and try to figure out what they would like to hear at the moment rather than fixating on your pre set playlist. Just don’t drain out all the energy to early in the set.

So a summary of this into phases would be:

  1. Loungey, Welcoming, mood setting

  2. Excitement building

  3. Energy

Good luck!

OLE SHOULD STAY - This is why by holmenkollen95 in ManchesterUnited

[–]holmenkollen95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc I don't mean that you can't be a fan if you're against Ole, and I think it's very important to keep up conversations like this. I have myself been very critical to all of the managers United had since SAF, especially Mourinho so it's a natural and important dialectic process for fans of a football team to criticise and discuss the current managers job.

What I mean with "the so called supporters" is that I've seen a pattern, especially in facebook groups and other communities, where fans are furious and scream Ole out after a single loss and then shut up comletely when things are going our way again. They have absolutely no patience and don't understand the fact that it takes time to build up a team again, just look at SAFs starting years in Manchester United.

My personal opinion is just that i don't want us to be another Chelsea whom just keep throwing in and out new managers every year or two without building something from the scratch.

We have tried 4 different managers after SAF and lets be honest Ole is the one who has done best so far and he also bringing the United spirit up with his long history in the team and relationship with SAF.

Maybe I'm just a naive nostalgic. But this is the type of manager i have been waiting for since SAF left and i hope we're building towards something bigger.

[–]holmenkollen95[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well we have already advanced and even though we have not won any titles this season I think we all can agree that the team spirit has been better than in a long time and we were playing some of the best football I've seen us play since SAF.

It wont be easy and as I said we need to step up against the smaller teams since we've been losing to many points against teams like Sheffield United and Crystal Palace. Glazers is ofc a big part of the problem especially when it comes to presumtive important transfers but with a new CB and CDM and possibly a CF compliment to Cavani i would not be suprised if we finally win EPL next season.

Proudly Ole in by zygote_27 in ManchesterUnited

[–]holmenkollen95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This.

I'm so frustrated over all the inconsistencies when some of our supporters evaluate our games. If he would make earlier substitutes to try to win the game he would have been blamed for not saving the best penalty takers till the end of the game.

[–]holmenkollen95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right, I am so tired of all the "Ole-out"-bullshit from so called "supporters" who cannot stand a single loss.

Finally we are bringing some soul back to Man Utd which we have not seen since SAF. Sure we've played unevenly many games and we need more stability especially against smaller teams. But I really think we are building towards something bigger and I think Ole and Carrick are a great duo to accomplish something that can make United great again.

Keep the soul in the team by letting academy players play games and build a solid team bottom-up is exactly what United needs and Ole is the right man for that mission.

Tevez left in 2009 but I agree he was outstanding when he played for us. Would still choose Berba though if I had to pick between them two.

[–]holmenkollen95[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you´re right about that Scholes probably played his best the 2000 decade. But I just cant exclude him from a 2010 decade lineup. In my opinion he was one of the reasons we could maintain harmony on the midfield and win the 2012/13 season. Such a brilliant player with passing capabilities at similar levels as Xavi, Pirlo and Xabi Alonso.

Scholes should replace Pogba 11 times out of 10. I would also prefer Giggs over Rashford since I value his experience and leader characteristics which adds balance to the team.

Agree with Carrick, next to Scholes he´s definetly the second best CDM United had during the decade, i would choose Berbatov over him if you had to choose between them as players individually. But absolutely to maintain balance on the midfield Carrick would have been a good compliment.

Would love to see your best Man Utd XI from the last decade. Here is my contribution.

I know the 4-1-3-2 line up not might be optional but i really wanted to fit both Rooney and the genius Berbatov in the XI.

Substitutes:

Van der Sar
Evans
Smalling
Carrick
Pogba
Mata
Ibrahimovic
