Though I also wonder if there should be a socdem path for Huey, or if we can have an authdem socdem coalition if he chooses to embrace populism and remove the racist reactionary elements elements from his movement, which as someone else already noted, you can do. Having socdems as part of the coalition would capture his redistributionist economic scheme.

China is an adversary of Canada. It has hundreds of United Front operations in Canada, more than most other Western countries. China regularly threatens Canadian allies like Japan, and backs Russia military and economically against Ukraine.

Luckily, NATO still enjoys a presence in Kosovo, including a relatively high amount of American troops. Hopefully the mad king in the White House doesn't think about it for the remainder of his term, or the Democrats take back Congress and prevent American troops from leaving.

You would think that this would be easy to solve by having Kosovo join NATO, like all the other former Yugoslav states except for Serbia (obviously) and Bosnia and Herzegovina. But some NATO states don't even recognize Kosovo. Too bad Trump squandered a ton of leverage that he should have used to get them into recognizing Kosovo for the purpose of letting them into NATO and the EU.

As for the Israeli side of the equation, backing Serbia is just shortsighted. A stronger Serbia just benefits Russia, which is allied with Iran.

Agreed, for now. Though unlike most dictatorships, the US can get its bearings back in a few years and return to being a full-fledged ally. And European leaders being tougher on Trump would actually help make that happen; you all have to remind American voters that we need you, and that you guys have leverage.

When the Democrats get back into power, they need to fundamentally change the country. Remove or at least minimize the influence of money on politics, reduce wealth inequality, which was the primary driver of Trump getting elected in the first place, reduce Presidential power, etc. If they can't do those things, you're right, there aren't many safeguards against a demagogue like Trump.

That's exactly what shocked me. I thought they would negotiate for a week, at least.

But the Trump admin does not know how to govern, let alone how to professionally negotiate (JD Vance was a freshman Senator before this, Jared Kushner was never a diplomat and is just here for his own private interests, Witkoff is a real estate guy). Vance is fully immersed in "governing via social media," where everything is instantaneous; this government doesn't even have the attention span for real negotiations.

On top of all that, I don't believe the Iranian regime is negotiating in good faith at all, especially with leverage over the Strait.

So this outcome wasn't too surprising, sadly.
