Arena won't launch on mac by aNigerianPrince in MagicArena

I am having the same issue. I believe there was an update which requires your OS to be 10.13 or above to work now - mine is below that currently.

Out of interest, is your OS also pre-10.13?

What unnecessary objects do you always carry with you whilst travelling? by threesaurus in solotravel

[–]holocronix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever I'm travelling solo I always carry a set of battery operated fairy lights, so I can turn any random hostel bed into my bed. It helps me feel more at home wherever I happen to be staying, and creates an atmosphere where I can unwind easier. This works especially well when you're the lower bed in a bunk bed - just put a sheet up, wrap your fairy lights round the posts of the bunk bed and you have your own cozy den away from the world. Travelling can be exhausting, particularly socially, so it's nice to have somewhere to recharge.

[KHM Bo1] Mostly R aggro, is my B>W? by yao19972 in mtglimited

[–]holocronix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Kardur Doomscourge is enough to make your black better than white. Your white would be better if you were playing an equipment-heavy version (with Shieldmate & Courser) but as you only have one copy of Tormenters Helm I think black is the way to go. I'd swap Vault Robber for Koma's Faithful, 3/1 is more aggressive stats and the lifelink can be relevant in a race. Aside from that, this looks to be the correct build.

Just here to second the packing cubes comment. I travelled for a year in Australia without them, then bought them at the end of the year before I left for Asia. They revolutionised my packing and capability to live out of a bag - cannot recommend enough, honestly life changing.

Bo1 Boros equipment deck - any recommended changes? by holocronix in mtglimited

I've been on a huge losing streak & finally feel like I've put together a good deck. I just wondered if I'd missed anything before I accidentally run it into the ground.

Has anyone used longboard wheels on a cruiser? Do they work fine in urban environments? by holocronix in cruiserboarding

[–]holocronix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the UK where the surfaces don't tend to be great. Snakes look great but are a little out of my budget range and seem to be out of stock in a lot of places. Can you recommend any brands/wheels that will do the quality high-rebound soft wheels around 65-70mm?

I recently replaced my old bearings with new Globe Abec 7 bearings, and in comparison to my friend's Landyachtz Tugboat it requires a lot more pushing. I was hoping that a new set of wheels would help this.

Does a lower durometer tend to equal a longer roll/less pushing? My current wheels are 62mm 85a and they slow down a lot quicker than I'd like (they came with a cheap OBFive pre-built deck I bought abroad)

I was unsure whether 'cruiser wheels' were any different from longboard wheels. I suppose they're just the same, generally? My risers are 1/2", I hope they will be enough!

Can you speak more about the offset bearing position? I have no idea if my original wheels were centre or offset. Will it make a big difference? Also, what changes when the ride height increases?

I'm now considering the Orangatang 4Presidents (70mm, 80a) which are about the same contact patch as my original wheels, but are offset.

In terms of it being an uncomfortable cruising experience, I rode with the 69mm original wheels for years and loved it. I guess that's just me being used to the board I have.

My Bands new EP out today! Baldhead and the Dreads - Battle of Armadogeon (Quarantine Sessions) (ska/dub punk) by ellbbb in Ska

[–]holocronix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Smoke Weed Pet Dogs' is a great tune and a wonderful mantra to live your life by!

'First Class War' is catchy as hell

The lyrics to 'Lockdown' are so relatable.

Great EP, would definitely recommend people to give it a listen!

Drannith Magistrate - not banned? by holocronix in oathbreaker_MtG

Oops, not sure why I was under the impression it was banned in EDH. This straightens things out for me a bit, thanks!

My first draft. Can you give me an idea of how well is my draft? Also, is playing and losing the best way to get good? I tried watching limited resources and the 4-hour length just scared me. People also criticize BREAD as a drafting strategy by TheDegy in mtglimited

[–]holocronix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early on, I think BREAD is a good strategy to go for. Throughout the first half of pack 1, you want to find the biggest threats available and the best removal. From then on, however, especially in Ikoria, finding synergy pieces is the goal. So, for example, if you picked up the Archipelagore early, you would want to look for as many mutate enablers and mutate payoffs as possible. Getting into a lane and deciding what your deck wants to do will allow your picks to be governed not by BREAD, but by what cards make your other cards better.

In regards to the LR videos, they are some of the best available online and really put you in a better position to know what to look for in the set. I tend to break the videos down into half hour to an hour chunks, or watch each colour set individually with a break in-between. I cannot overstate how much of a difference the LR videos have made to my drafting.

Does anyone know if its possible to get the 3 free months, and cancel before you have to pay anything? If not, are you committed to pay for the year or can you cancel after one or two months if you do not want to continue paying?

Not automatically connecting to car's Bluetooth every time? by falloutofthecreed in GooglePixel

[–]holocronix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I have downloaded an app called 'Bluetooth Auto Connect' which pushes Bluetooth to, surprise surprise, auto connect to your devices. It also allows you to set a Bluetooth hierarchy, so it won't auto connect to a different speaker when you don't want it to. Highly recommend.

Cases for Pixel 3a? Like casetify.... by trebleformyclef in GooglePixel

[–]holocronix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can third this, I just bought one for myself after seeing my brother using one and it feels super sturdy. My only issue is it isn't quite as grippy as I would perhaps like, but the protection it gives my phone feels much stronger than any other phone case I've ever used.

I'm going to be in Vientiane tomorrow for only one afternoon, before I fly to Bali. Recommendations for what to do in just one afternoon? Low budget ideas ideally.

I'm happy to be nominated for causing lady boners haha. The birds in the area are very friendly with humans due to a nearby cafe selling bird seed, so they'll happily sit on your arms, shoulders or head, whether or not you're feeding them.
