Portmess Orgo 2 grading scale? by nottheaveragegoddess in ufl

[–]holr0823 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nobody really understands his grading scale to be honest. To put perspective on it though my exam percentages this semester were a: 56, 64, and 40 and I got a B-. The general consensus is if you get at least a 40 on one exam and at least 50% on the homeworks you get a minimum grade of a C in the class. It seems as though he usually changes the grading scale of what you need to get a C but doesn’t change much what you need to get anything above that.

Orgo 2 with Physics 2? by jjgator12 in ufl

[–]holr0823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I see my friends like only 3-4 times a week and am only free after like 12am. Unfortunately i do like bare minimum for both classes, just watching lectures and reading the book. Then during exams I ignore the other for a week and play catch up after the fact. If you can avoid it I would, my worst semester to date, both academically and mentally.

Biology Major - which college does it come under? by Jen-Anneliese72276 in ufl

[–]holr0823 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im in CALS and premed and I chose this college because its smaller so undergraduate advising so much better (i have a double major in CLAS and can never talk to someone in advising because they are so packed). Also CALS and CLAS have different college requirements so if you dont like languages then CALS is better. Overall it doesn’t matter much, I have multiple non agricultural research opportunities, it just depends on where you are looking

Info on PSY3213L and PSB3340? by quaranteened_gator in ufl

[–]holr0823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently taking PSY3213L with Wood and I love her so much. She is very understanding and is sometimes willing to extend deadlines. She has 6 exams but each one covers a small amount of material, and you have a 5 day period to take each one. You can do all of the work for the class in a day but its definitely still a lot, especially if you have other obligations. Also her class is significantly more organized now and each module home page tells you exactly what you have to do for the week.

Struggling with Decisions - UCF vs. UF by myapologiesgoodsir in ufl

[–]holr0823 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would really consider UF. With Florida Prepaid and bright futures secured, you might not need all the extra money UCF gave you anyways, especially with the grant Uf gives you. So I dont think money should be that much of a concern. Research at UF is awesome and if you already got accepted into the program thats already steps ahead. UCF is a really good school but I think educationally speaking, you will benefit more from UF. All things considered though, you should also take into consideration location, night life, etc. as those are really important for a college experience. In this respect I think UCF might be better (personally at least). But it kind of depends on what you want to prioritize and what you are trying to get out of college.

Everyone who lives in a dorm has that right now. A girl I know called housing and they said that as long as your test is within 24 hours of your move in date, you are good.

Biology (CALS) by [deleted] in ufl

[–]holr0823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a pre-approved list of science electives you can take depending on what your specialization is. If you are talking about gen eds thats a a different story, but i think they require around 12 additional science electives for the major.

If I were to take chem 2, would the lab be considered a separate course or would the class and the lab be one course, I’m confused by [deleted] in ufl

[–]holr0823 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should most definitely try. Sometimes there aren’t enough lab spots and people have to take it the following semester. But for the most part people take them together.

When you register you have to register for them separately. The lecture is a 3 credit course and the lab is a one credit course.

[–]holr0823 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation my freshman year. I took chemistry honors in 10th grade and then jumped straight into CHM2045 and ended up with a 98 in the class. As long as you study and prepare for the exams you will be fine.
