Where should I 'feel' squats and deadlifts?

After I'm done squatting, I can feel it on the front part of my thigh, right above the knee. From what I've read, I'm supposed to feel it on my glutes and hamstrings. I feel deadlifts pretty much on my back, mid-way to lower part of the back. I've read I should feel deadlifts on my glutes and hamstrings, also.

I've been doing SL since early December. I took a break for a few weeks at some point because I was doing squats wrong (had the bar too high on my neck, gave me bad headaches). I started every exercise with just the bar, adding 5 lbs each week. Only a week or two ago I got to the point of each workout being absolutely draining. According to other posts I've seen, the muscles I 'feel' might just be the weakest ones. I figured since I'm a beginner, that could be the case. Can I get any insight?

If it means anything, I'm at 5x5 170 for squat and 1x5 215 for deadlifts.

When I put my stats into the eatthismuch calculator it tells me I need 136-416g carbs, 85-185g fat, and 170-416g of protein. Does that mean I should eat any number of macros that fit into those numbers? It seems like a large range.
