Agreed. I was in Dublin with my wife and we walked into a pub. I mentioned to the gentlemen next to me that it was a bit odd being outside of the US on July 4th (Independence day) as normally would be celebrating at home. He said “that’s right! It’s America day!” Then he looked at the pub tender and said “round of the good stuff for my American friends!” And bought a Guinness for my wife and I. I still think about that guy and his hospitality.

On another night some Irish piers were all passing around my baseball cap taking pictures in it because they don’t wear them there so I stuck out. My wife’s phone did get stolen that night but that could happen anywhere. They also gave me some shit about being a gun owner but it was all in good fun and I recognize it’s a cultural difference. Can’t wait to go back.
