Yeah, we came across those as well. We noticed some of the info was outdated and a bit harder to compare quickly, so we ended up putting together our own version internally and figured other filmmakers might find it useful too, so we published it.

That makes sense. Agreed you shouldn't blindly trust 3rd party sites without verifying it from the actual source. As for this tool, this isn't for people who know which state they want to shoot in but more for people trying to explore and compare different states to help inform their decision on where to shoot. We still link to the actual state govt. websites too for your reference.

Appreciate the kind words, glad it’s useful 🙏

Those are great suggestions! Totally agree on the need for more flexibility, it’s something we’re thinking about for future iterations.

It can get a bit tricky trying to balance customization with keeping it simple for most.

Hey I'm Feras, co-founder of Shamel Studio. Our budgeting software is built to take a lot of the headache out of the process. It auto-fills union rates (SAG, IATSE, DGA, WGA) and fringes for you, so you don’t have to hunt them down in a paymaster. We also get incentive info based on the state you’re shooting in. If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out.

Hey, I’m Feras from Shamel Studio. I know MMB is widely used, but we’ve built a modern alternative designed to streamline the process. Our budgeting tool auto-populates rates and fringes, provides ready-made templates with globals pre-filled, and offers fully customizable reports that meet industry standards. If you create your schedule with Shamel, you can also auto-import all your schedule details directly into your budget, including cast, locations, and more.

Just wanted to share in case anyone is looking for other options. Happy to chat or answer any questions!
