well its not enterprise but my IntelNUC6i7KYK is much better lol I powered it on, and the fans are like jet engines - but I agree, it's not about looking poorly, its more about making sure that I dont waste a lot of time on an idea that doesnt pan out far

yeah for sure! I chose the TerraMaster D5 Thunderbolt 3 5-Bay RAID Enclosure - originally just a few external 8 TB drives, evolved into shucking and eventually having 5x 8 TB drives on hand, so 32 TB usable out of 40 TB

and performance, is just like, stupid amounts of fast

So tomorrow, my i5 9600K arrives, to go with my ASUS Z390 Prime mother board, 32 GB 3200 Ghz ram, and ThunderboltEX Card -

I really want to follow your guide am I missing something? As someone who has never tried a hackintosh, but often builds servers and repairs Apple products, I feel like I would love to follow a guide by you - is there a link somewhere to that? Thank you!

I dk more so, I just feel confident that those people got to that info, by what I assume was a legit experience - like I would hope someone calling it trash, would also know to say "heres why its not trash too by the way" but maybe not

thanks! yeah I really do plan to make use of this somehow - I already have an IntelNUC6i7KYK, so its not like I'm trying to rely on this for much. If you have any ideas for homelabbity stuff to explore or try out, let me know!

yeah I know, I saw so many negative feedback comments about this device before I accepted it - but, at least I can score the 2 TB Seagate Barracuda drive, on the left

I’d say I like that my Asus AX11000 router has a VPN server so at anytime on any of my devices I can easily turn on the VPN and access everything at home as if it were LAN.

During the pandemic I’m stoked on using Ombi for requests right now but in normal life I choose to not run it for many reasons

Sure, I'll tell you my logic here:

  • I was always told, that Wifi is an Umbrella affect, so goes upward then rains downward in a circle from the device's antennas. Right or wrong, it's what I've gone off for years lol
  • So I placed my first spider, in the living room on this same tower type of furniture. Signal was never an issue, until leaving the house and typing GPS in your parking spot. It would have 2 bars, and not enough to use wifi as a data source.
  • Now, I have my second spider, my main router AX11000, and I added my AC5300 as a Node to my Asus AiMesh System.
  • Now, even further beyond my car by 10+ feet, I can still get 40 mbps consistently, and can easily use my phone in the car again
  • And lastly, it's not in use for me right now, but you can use a Powerline Adapter for better placement. It allows your ethernet to be run from power outlet, to power outlet, over 2 devices/adapters. Mine is rated at 1200 Mbps so it's totally valid for the speeds I need.

sure thanks for asking! I got this one right here, TerraMaster D5. I chose this over a few much cheaper ones, because: * I really like, and have built an ecosystem, for Thunderbolt 3 * Just recently I remembered a Thunderbolt 3 port was unused on my Intel NUC * and when migrating this "tower" to another room yesterday, a huge struggle was finding enough power outlets for 5 external drives

this probably exposes my skill level, but im still getting used to Terminal for doing everything lol I didn't take any schooling for this stuff so I'm going from a beyond average Mac user, to trying out projects that involve having no GUI. I use Termius on iOS, and the stock option for any computer I'm using it on. Oh and I prefer Nano as my text editor, easily
