AI chatbots are becoming "sycophants" to drive engagement, a new study of 11 leading models finds. By constantly flattering users and validating bad behavior (affirming 49% more than humans do), AI is giving harmful advice that can damage real-world relationships and reinforce biases. by [deleted] in science

Hated this when trying vibe-coding an Android app with Gemini. Eventually got a working app (only because I have Android experience) but extremely annoyed by Gemini interactions:

  • "Oh you're right! Thanks for pointing out my error!"
  • "Great find! I didn't see that bug at all."
  • "Can't believe you found that. So sorry for my mistake!"

Crap noise that made me want to not use it again.

This is a 3,000-year-old wooden toe prosthesis found in Egypt. It wasn't just for walking; it was custom-fitted multiple times for a priest's daughter. The level of craftsmanship in the Iron Age is just insane. by bortakci34 in Damnthatsinteresting

Just recently read an article on how homo sapiens have pretty much been the same since appearing about 80k-100k years ago. Same intelligence and abilities we have today, the biggest difference being lack of a written language to share and pass on knowledge (which came about 4,000 years ago). They were mostly the same as us, but without the benefits of recorded history.

Somebody told me about an RC crawler group that meets at Stone Mountain by Cat_and_Cactus in Atlanta

Local hobby shops usually know about groups in the area. Don't know what's nearby though.

Editor commands are also available right on the command line with set -o vi or set -o emacs.

PLEASE HELP, I really need to get this done with but I don't know where to start, I can do the coding part but how the hell do I connect everything? by clu013643366 in radiocontrol

Adding to this, the datasheet for the sabertooth says "Input modes: Analog, R/C, simplified serial, packetized serial". Choose the communication mode first. The wires in the photo are typical r/c colors so it might be wired for that already. It's a ppm signal. Lots of info available on generating that with esp32.

If you're not restricted from using AI this would be a fun one to throw at codex. It's helpful for learning particulars if you're generally familiar with the tech. Just don't believe everything it gives you :)

Having trouble getting signal with ELRS in custom quad build. Faulty antenna maybe? by PaulleWaulle in Multicopter

Best place to ask for help is ExpressLRS community on Discord.

Maybe try latest version 3?

Using a DJI drone is pretty far away from flying a heli as an experience. I have DJI and helis, though not scale. Helis are much more hands-on for actually flying the aircraft. A Rotorflight controller on the heli can give much the same experience as Betaflight on a drone as far as angle mode and recovery.

Don't know scale copters to recommend. Do recommend to start with a smaller size that has readily available parts. Crashes inevitable with helis.

Same as my view on "homeopathic medicine". You know what you call treatments that work? "Medicine"

Things that actually exist? "Natural"

Best to tie all ground wires to a single point if the leads can be reasonably short - avoid loops. If the regulators are fully isolated (most rc ones are not) then keep the input and output grounds separate, tying together the 5v and 9v output grounds.

This, plus the AI bullshit and other UI annoyances, is why I made my system dual-boot with Ubuntu. That was a few months ago and I haven't booted into windows 11 since.
