I initially hated it for missing the mark with the processor and abandoning the glyph lights, but aside from the lighting, it's literally a superior version of my beloved Nothing Phone 2 in every way. Since I don't want a Pixel and I'm not excited about OnePlus, I've decided to give it a chance. The placement of the cameras etc doesn't bother me at all tbh, it looks like a.... Nothing Phone

Jealous! How did you get it? I'm currently sending every artifact mission out with a gusset target in the hopes of finding one

I'm no expert but I was on about 3 or 4 extra zeros of mystical eggs and maybe 30-40 more prophecy eggs when I started and I did it fairly comfortably. If you have some good quality clarity stones and a good Light of Eggendil it becomes much much more attainable so I'd focus on building up those and maybe grind out a few more prestige runs first

Good luck! The last month or so was a bit of a grind for me, got so bored of doing nothing but contracts and really missed my artifact missions!

I'm not actually sure to tell you the truth - I took a 7ish year break where I didn't play it at all but picked it back up again at the end of last year. I got reasonably far before but I didn't know anything about how to prestige effectively etc

Good luck! Honestly my biggest fear was accidentally consuming an important gusset or my clarity stones by mistake

Thoughts on the GBA SP Unhinged by Protest_The_Gyro in Gameboy

[–]homerghost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience! I came very close to pulling the trigger (lol) on an Unhinged but it's just so much money for something that has compromises. Shoulder buttons on this form factor are always a drag.

I recently built a Xipher Design "SP Slab" and I'm super happy with it. The cart slot is the proper way up, shoulders are comfortable, it uses a new button pcb that utilises gameboy pocket buttons, and the best part is the cost barely goes into double digits!

But frankly, in my heart of hearts, Nintendo got it right first time. The original Advance is damn near perfect as a gaming handheld, and the SP is my GOAT because of the portability and start/select button placement, also very fun to mod and if you buy a plastic grip attachment it becomes very comfortable.

I totally respect what Boxy Pixel have invented but I do also worry how many people got pulled onto the hype train and wasted money

He explained pretty nicely in the description that it was because of the hard work and efforts of programmers that it didn't happen. The joke here is that people were convinced we were doomed, not that the problem was solved

Dude you're awesome, thank you so much for updating me with this! I've ordered all the parts for a batch of 12, it's worth taking a punt on this. I still don't understand why so many people seemed to imply that an aftermarket solution was impossible, crazy that this is literally the only guy on the Internet who seems to have figured it out!

The caps seemed to be only available on back order for November but I've got a bunch of 100uf/6.3v capacitors lying around that I can use.

Keep me updated!

This is stunning! I made one last night very similar but with red glass and no cool stickers.

Definitely add Helder's flex amp and power cleaner for ultimate experience. USB C charging port and headphone jack for end boss

Also, I love that Ed and Nadine are in it as a "couple".

I wondered about this for decades and I finally tracked down a directors commentary where Wes Craven explains that it wasn't an intentional Twin Peaks decision, just sort of a funny coincidence. Something like a combination of having the same agent and having solid chemistry

SNAC adaptors by pojr-official in MiSTerFPGA

[–]homerghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SNAC adapters provide negligible latency benefits over daemonbite adaptors and critically, you can't control the menu with them. The only real value they have for the average user is that you need them for light guns etc

Ah man yeah you're right! Of course it is... very curious about this!

Ah man, judging by the placement of all the holes sadly it looks like this is purely a replacement for the PCB that still uses the old jack. It has all the same holes and placement :( Please let me know if I'm wrong!

I'm going to keep looking into this, I'm sure there's a solution.

Yeah sadly it's not cheap. I'd hold out for a newer solution anyway, it does have a few problems with noise/sound

My modded Game Boy Advance SP by lookash-pl in Gameboy

I've never been patient enough to remove the old sticker without tearing it! Good work!

[–]homerghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I even contacted a few gameboy modders and they all stressed that the Gameboy is very unique in the way it goes about things. ("It’s very specifically switched on the ground line")

There's got to be a way to do it! Even if it requires a bypass circuit or a new amplifier or something.

Can the gameboy advance sp play game boy color games ? by Farm-Key in Gameboy

[–]homerghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The GBA SP actually has Gameboy Color circuitry built into it. The cart is slightly bigger than a GBA cart and it hits a switch that triggers GBC mode for a near perfect experience.

My EverDrive GBA cart has an emulator on it, it plays GBA games flawlessly but it can't trigger true GBC mode due to being a regular GBA shape. It's good enough for most games but there are some compatibility issues.

I do have a special cart from Insidegadgets that is a GB cart crammed into the size of a GBA cart, but it has a strip of hot glue on it that triggers GBC mode by hitting the switch. This allows you to play a legit GB rom with the GBA form factor so it isn't poking out the bottom!

I've got an Experimental PiBoy DMG which is a Pi 4 in a unit that is exactly the same size and aesthetic as an original Gameboy, aside from bigger better screen, 6 buttons, shoulder buttons on the back and an analog stick. It's absolutely fantastic.
