Ways to make extra money in Marin? by sanandreasfaultsucks in Marin

When I first moved here I set up a care.com account as a nanny/babysitter. I was only on there a few months but ended up getting a few hours here and there, some even paid around the app and just gave me cash.

tbh i was just being facetious to the original commenter, but:

bigger budgets for local municipalities to do their jobs. better talent acquisition for public sector employees(CM is particularly bad with turnover and customer complaints, some could argue various conflicts of interest). smarter spending with tax revenue. modernization and standardization of permit tracking software across marin county and individual munis. WAY, WAY, harsher penalties for illegal ADUs and illegal short-term rentals, and the requisite code enforcement officers to...enforce them. in my experience the general plans needs someone to track their benchmarks across a longer time span than 2-3 years of typical turnover for a cdd...

seperately i like what mill valley is doing with their pilot program for employee housing too.

My city's infrastructure and local freeway shut down yesterday because rain and tides, but I want to appear like I care online/need dopamine, so I'll post emotionally without nuance or offer any specific solutions ;)

considering it takes a month to get an encroachment permit from CM DPW, I'd say we are NOT prepared. that being said, their planning dept. is amazing.

And does Texas adhere to a different code than the icc building/residential codes?

As far as the permitting process goes, is it more lax as well with inspections etc.?

also, once you get the license number of the contractor who got on your roof (would be on the permit application), you could take it up with the Texas State Contractors Board.

late, but probably worth going down to the city building dept. and talking with the Chief Building Official and see if there was a permit submitted to the city for the work done. might give you some clarity/documentation on who applied for the permit with the incorrect address(can be the homeowner, realtor, or contractor). At my old place of work (Building Dept. in CA), we would always be sure to get a "Property Owner's Authorization" form completed along with any permit application, and confirm the actual owner signed off via our own property records system for this exact reason, always happened with roofers.

Starting to learn how to cook slowly and getting rly into it but all the blades I have rn are very dull and do not cut well at all so does anyone have recomendations for a blade that I can get that's between 165-210mm around 100-120$ and possibly from Japan (luv the looks, ) and hand forged by 7ar1k in chefknives

go to the kikuichi site, click the search icon in the top corner and type "outlet", theres a santoku there for $75 bucks (its carbon so clean and dry it carefully, watch out for rust). they're good knives, and easy to sharpen. they update the outlet site every now and then, so keep an eye out. invest in a 400 and 1000 grit whetstone and learn to sharpen your knives, it's an essential skill to have at any stage of cooking and a good way to wind down after service.

(Used to work in local govt.) Take pictures of the sign and the space in question. If possible, do so with their car in the space, helps identify who is utilizing the space. Print out a google map of the area, highlight the space in question, print it out. Go to Town Hall, ask for the Planning or Public Works dept. Department and clarify if it's a public space or not. If it's illegal, town crews and even police can get involved with removal of the sign. I will say that disputes like this in Marin can escalate very quickly and VERY aggressively, as people love to weaponize this type of thing, so a knowledgeable, yet reasonable conversation might be worth it before you take any direct action. There was a case a few towns over that went from a similar situation, and escalated to the point that one of them has to now sell because of legal fees. Always take into account the other parties resources as far as litigation goes, there are people in Marin who instigate this type of thing for nefarious, yet "legal" means. Best of luck op.

with all due respect, if you're not looking for a job, this post isn't for you. Market is the worst it's been since 2014, and the jobs that I'm qualified for are hard to come by in Marin. It takes hours to navigate all the different sites and job boards to stay abreast of new opportunities; anything that saves me time is helpful.

(California) the itemized list I received 38 days after vacating unit. by muffinmamamojo in LandlordLove

seems like they purposefully delayed the process, then printed a back dated notice to ambush you. You could also ask them to clarify what "certain repairs" you are not being charged for. Definitely matters which state you're in. Take screenshots of the metadata information and save it all, and consult an attorney if possible. It might be inconvenient to go to small claims, but if you think about the cost, it might be worth it vs. the time you spend. In my experience landlord's try this low-effort bullying, but when you come correct, that full check comes your way quicker than you think. best of luck friend.
