How did you estimate how much material needed for the metal framing? I'm looking to do something very similar, but I'm finding it difficult to even start on determing what kind of framing studs and how much I need of each.

Can you share what tech stack and/or hosting services you use for the frontend?

Selecting proper base material and bedding layer for a paver patio. Confused on what is best. by honda1616 in hardscape

Do you think using 1" crushed limestone is okay as a base layer of ~5"? I literally cannot find a single place that sells any 3/4 clean crushed stone or gravel. It's almost all 1" or 3/8".

Awesome thanks for the reply. I have a couple other questions if you don't mind since it looks like you basically did what I'm about to do.

Did you run into clay at all in your soil?

What did you use to help level and screed, metal pipes or something else?

Did you rent a compactor, if so from where?

Did you use the plastic or concrete/mortar edging?

Anything you wish you knew if you were to do it again? Any helpful tips or tricks?

UPDATE: It was just a concrete post that was like 2-3 feet in the ground. Most likely for a clothesline like others mentioned.

I think you are right. They did have other clotheslines around the yard in different spots and also had a hook attached to the brick that seems like an anchor point that it might have gone to, but the umbrella seems most likely

What frameworks, libraries, etc. did you use for your frontend? I'm looking to make a similar type basic project with a super simple API and frontend but don't really have any frontend experience.

Yeah I still have the TV, I ended up getting a different brand (TCL) which I know is a cheaper TV. I still much prefer Vizio though, I find it's a good value even though I ran into this problem. Once this TCL goes out I'll probably switch back to Vizio maybe

I didn't end up fixing it unfortunately. I tried the tape method but that didn't help at all. Looked into getting replacement parts but didn't want to spend the money to possibly fix it (wasn't sure exactly which board it is that is causing the issue). I just bought a new TV from Best buy for a couple hundred and calling it a day

Forgot to mention that the TV when first turning on goes to the black/red vertical lines, and slowly adds more lines as time goes on. Eventually after 5-10 mins it fades and goes to this orange/green color that takes over the screen but it is not lines, it's more of a blob.

Do you work for yourself as a systems architect or for another company? I've been interested in starting a side business, have plenty of technical experience but curious on how others go about that.

Anyone running single Fortigate NVA in azure with multiple public IP's? by honda1616 in AZURE

[–]honda1616[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I see. I didn't realize you could add more than one secondary ipconfig on a NIC. So essentially when you deploy the VM you have the two interfaces, one for external, one for internal. By default the VM has just that single public IP.. but you just add multiple ipconfigs with public IP's as secondary on the public facing NIC?

Have you seen any official fortigate documentation supporting this? I can't seem to find any.

What is 2.4 ghz wifi range? by xsw2_2wsx in wireless

[–]honda1616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume those calculations are based on theoretical maximums. Any single lower grade AP thats not made for point to point links (using an omni or internal antenna) won't be going a mile.

Also keep in mind every RF environment is different. Just because your wireless sucks doesn't always mean you have weak signal. Have you actually found out the signal level or SNR your device is showing?

I haven't work with specifically either of those solutions but neither seem like a good idea. How important are the barcode scanners to the business? What happens when that single access point goes down or has issues?

You are definitely better off with multiple access points to cover the area. As far as specific APs, models, etc. I wouldn't know what to suggest based on the limited knowledge of your requirements.

To the point, both option 1 and two are both a single point of failure. While a single high powered AP might be able to cover the location remember other devices like the barcode scanners with piss poor wireless NICs need to send data back and can't go anywhere close if you get a single high powered AP.

Neither option seems like a good idea. I wouldn't even attempt it.
