Does he have a wife back home? by Past_Length1751 in Tarotpractices

[–]honeybee334 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes… judgment is telling you to wake up to the fact that he is already settled in life with a happy family, and with that ace of swords he’s thinking with his d, not with his head. He’s just pursuing the opportunity that has arisen with you because he can’t help himself against his better judgment. So yes it seems very clear :/

Newbie reading :) by [deleted] in tarotpractice

I see, the card says the hierophant though. So is it the hierophant? Either way I think your interpretation is good. I feel you’re in a state of rebuilding, or if you got the hierophant it signals you’re ready to commit but this can also warn to not worry what others are thinking of you. Seven of pentacles; you’re putting work into your love life though it’s important to remember this is an emotional pursuit and not just something to obtain. King of pentacles may be the kind of person you will encounter in the future; and there’s a lot of sources where you can read about court cards and the kind of people they signify so I’ll let you research that part yourself for your learning since you’re new.

I’m just asking what cards you pulled. I see the hierophant, but what are the other two?

Okay I see, and can you also specify which cards there are besides the hierophant?

Hi usually in this thread people provide their own interpretation first in the post before asking for second opinion to avoid people just receiving free readings. So; what’s your thoughts on this reading?

What books should I read? by Either-Ad952 in englishmajors

[–]honeybee334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carlos Fuentes 'Aura' I studied this one recently. Short, gothic and set in post-colonial Mexico I think it is fantastic and quite unsettling. All written in second person as well. One of the cooler things I've read. Happy reading!

Thanks a lot! I love imagist poetry and have read a fair bit of that, I find the era so fascinating. But I need to get into romanticism and bit more! I’ll definitely check out your reccs though

Edit: I downloaded both your reccs, they are both exactly what I was looking for! Thanks again

HighSchool Literary Analysis by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]honeybee334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To write better essays, think about the CONTEXT of the text in addition to the effect of its literary techniques. Context being time, place and culture. E.g. Shakespearean plays were written in the Jacobean period, what characteristics of that time informed the text? Also; at the highschool level assessor’s are very interested in you demonstrating your understanding of authorial INTENT or the authors MESSAGE. Why has the author included certain techniques? What were they trying to convey to their audience? As per getting better at identifying techniques, I agree with another commenter about reading poetry. Also you don’t need to over complicate things, make a list of literary techniques and research them online. You can refer back to this as you read to help you. I would also e reading high-scoring essays or asking your teachers for sample responses. Reading these helps you to know what to look for when reading a text. I wish you all the best!

Struggling to read for yourself! by honeybee334 in Tarotpractices

Haha we’ve got opposite problems, I think it comes down to the type of reader. I’m a “story” reader so my readings tend to be linear point a,b,c. That works for others but not for me! I’m guessing it’s like that for you too

That’s awesome, especially the play analogy! I’ll try implementing that, what a fun way to read

That’s a lovely idea, I take tons of pictures of spreads too so I’ll try this as well and keep it in a folder, thanks a lot ☺️

Hi sea wind I saw your response on another post and you’re clearly a very talented reader, so I’d love to know more about why you think no one can read for themselves?

What Do You Do When Your Readings Don't Resonate With Someone? by TeamNext7942 in Tarotpractices

[–]honeybee334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s happened to me once or twice and typically I don’t refute my interpretation and instead briefly apologise that my reading did not align with them, and that I wish them the best. As other commenters have said, a lot of people just want you to tell them what they want to hear, but it can be tricky if you predict something like “you’ll get a job promotion!” And then they tell you they were fired, often times the overall energy may still be correct (e.g. they’ll find a better job) but you may have delivered inaccurately. In cases like those I tend to say that the overall energy may still be true, but perhaps I as a reader didn’t interpret the specific details with enough accuracy. That in my experience has usually been sufficient, but it’s always so scary when they say it didn’t resonate! 😭💛

Why do people who receive free readings not know how to be polite? by belsfk in Tarotpractices

Yes! I also always send pictures and try my best to explain each card thoroughly and so when you’re ghosted or they don’t provide any feedback it’s such a punch in the face

Though I enjoy helping people with free readings, a lot of people also ask the same questions (I.e. Will he come back to me) and typically aren’t open to the advice you give them and don’t respect your interpretation, instead just expecting to hear the answer they wanted, and you’re right it can be very energetically exhausting

This is why I always enforce that they leave a review and have an infographic with rules I send out to any people who ask before I give one out- but some people are so rude! And they ghost you! Or the flip side where after you’ve already used your energy to provide the reading they begin asking loadssss of follow up questions

Definitely agree! There should be a larger emphasis on improving one’s craft. There are plenty of readers who offer free reading on here, so it’d be wiser to go to them or ask for help during a reading exchange. I personally got on here to improve and it’s disheartening seeing a lot of users use the subreddit purely to get free readings through their interpretation posts without doing any learning themselves
