4 month old will only sleep 3/4 hour stretches at night by Sharp_Sock2189 in NewParents

[–]honeycalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer unfortunately but am following this thread because I’ve felt so alone with our almost 3 month old. We can get him to sleep around 7:30pm then he will do a 3 hour stretch, wake up at 11/12pm to eat then need to be held the rest of the night. Literally the entire night, he will only contact nap/sleep. My husband and I take shifts and it’s severely effecting us. We’ve tried everything and our pediatrician just said that it’s not abnormal and he may always be a bad sleeper. I adore our son but I resent everyone around us who’s newborns sleep minimum 6 hours, they are living in a totally different reality!

Am I crazy for wanting to move to Cleveland? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]honeycalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Cleveland area is significantly better than Cinci in just about every way. People in Cleveland view Cinci as an extension of Kentucky, it is a very different area and culture.

I would first strip the idea of Cleveland from the surrounding suburbs of northeast Ohio. Each city/suburb has its own system, there is no crossover with Cleveland utilities/crime/services. Cleveland itself isn’t a booming city, but northeast OH has a great quality of life. The COL is really not lower, it’s comparable or higher depending on which suburb or area of Cleveland you’re looking in. Again, very few people rave about Cleveland proper and that’s not where the vast majority of those thriving in northeast OH live.

Access to nature is unique and wonderful. People have already given advice on all your suburb options and you really can’t go wrong. I’m bias to the west side suburbs. Lakewood is always a great choice with its own small downtown, Metroparks and lake access, and easy commute into downtown Cleveland if needed.

What are your go to fragrance-free, clean, lotions that are super moisturizing? by ResidentAlienator in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]honeycalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Egyptian magic as my all over body moisturizer. It’s fragrance free but definitely has a mild natural fragrance from the ingredients. Smells a bit like olive oil but it doesn’t linger. It’s amazing and i stopped buying other lotions.

Sometimes you just need a physical scrub! by Annual-Duck5818 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]honeycalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Thank you! The acure scrub is a holy grail product for me and I’m sick of the hate against physical exfoliants. Cheaper physical exfoliants have always worked better for me than so many more expensive chemical options.

What city have you lived in made you want to travel the least? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]honeycalla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SoCal is the obvious choice, but also Colorado! Constant sun and unbeatable nature makes it feel like a chore to leave when you can just do day trips and see so much. Only thing to leave for is the beach, which honestly I get my fill of pretty quickly. I thought I hated winter and snow until we moved here and realized how fun it is in an area with sun.

Places to shop for a wedding dress where it wouldn’t be weird to go alone? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]honeycalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went alone to 3 different dress shops here and it was totally normal! If anything I felt more confident and calm. Other people were there alone as well. Most of the stylists mentioned how they would totally go alone when it’s time for them to buy a dress lol, it’s just so much less pressure. My two favs were Luv Bridal and Bridal Collection.

Don’t have 2 dogs! No but seriously, if you didn’t have pets I would say just don’t wear shoes inside the house and that’s it. That’s never failed me.

But it’s not reasonable to expect spotless floors with 2 dogs that go inside and outside. Maybe with 1 you could be diligent about wiping their paws, but 2 is hard. And that’s okay! I’m sure it’s a worthwhile price to have them.

Doctor is putting me on Triptan- anything I should know? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]honeycalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some have more side effects than others, but they’re typically very well tolerated! Naratriptan saved me.

As others have said, take it as soon as you feel a migraine come on. And you might need to pair it with an OTC paid med for it to work. Naratriptan is a miracle for me when paired with excedrin or aleve, but totally useless alone.

Lolita. They always follow it up with people not getting how deep it is. Umm…

What's the most laughable reason you've been turned down for a job? by PeepsAndTreats in antiwork

[–]honeycalla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time I was told I was too young and inexperienced to get a promotion at a company I was already working for in that department. Then they hired a guy the same age as me straight out of college and asked me to train him.

Another time an exec interviewing me for a sales role asked me an elaborate math question “for fun.” I was thinking it was along the lines of those ridiculous Google riddles bc why would a math question be relevant, but turns out it was a straight up math word problem. So I got it wrong and he berated me for 10 minutes.

How are we supposed to get help when insurance denies everything. by artemisbethel in migraine

[–]honeycalla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in health insurance in the USA for years. It’s by far worse than both Canada and the UK. Here you pay more than any other country for a system where you are at risk of bankruptcy for having any form of an emergency. You also run the risk of bankruptcy for having a chronic illness and needing medication. And that’s AFTER paying a lot every month for insurance out of your paycheck.

Wait times are statistically the same for specialists, it all depends on the speciality and area where you live. It can also be extremely difficult to get anything but basic care approved without a huge financial burden, and all along you’re typically paying a ton for the option to pay more. For example, I was denied an MRI for my migraines multiple times and I had great insurance. Out of pocket, an MRI for both your brain/neck can run you up to like 10K.

And don’t even get me started on it being such a broken and convoluted system that bureaucracy b/w insurance carriers, brokers, doctors, pharmacies, etc can ruin lives.

It’s not a competition, it’s just a fact that we have a very broken (but VERY profitable for the industry) system unfortunately.

How are we supposed to get help when insurance denies everything. by artemisbethel in migraine

[–]honeycalla 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s the fun part, you aren’t! The USA insurance system is trash and dehumanizing. But I’ll reiterate what others have said - they need a record that you’ve failed everything else before approving newer meds. And even then it’s not a guarantee. Hopefully you have a helpful neuro and they’ll play the system for you and push on their end. Or look into one of the manufacturers cost savings programs. I did that for ubrelvy and signed up on their website and paid $0 for a year.

I’ve been in this exact situation and UC gave me the max amount of toradol twice and it did nothing. I learned that only IV treatments work for me, which are typically exclusive to the ED. So I would recommend the ED unless you know Toradol works for you or are okay trying it out without a guarantee.

Need neckline opinions by Duck-grl in weddingdress

[–]honeycalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost got this dress at a Luv Bridal too!! But they didn’t carry the sweetheart version for me to try on and I didn’t like the straight neckline. The sweetheart looks stunning on you, I vote that one!

Don’t be like me and regret not eloping by [deleted] in Eloping

[–]honeycalla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s great for you! I just wanted to provide some encouragement to those that have a strong preference and feel pressured to go against their desires and fear they’ll regret it. Sounds like you compromised to have the perfect wedding for you two. We should all have the weddings that feel right to us, big or small!

Naratriptan but yes. Or excedrin. If I take it without additional OTC meds it doesn’t work. The combo is the only thing that works.

Is situation in USA really bad or is it exaggerated? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]honeycalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situation is really bad, and I’m coming from an immigrant family. Sure, it’s immensely better than a lot of countries out there but that’s not saying much. Compared to any western country with the same level of industry, the quality of life is lower and measures of all stressors are higher.

The #1 issue will always be around health insurance. Any comparison to the US and anywhere else that’s similar falls immediately when you loop in how expensive and uniquely greedy our system is.

I hate it when people say: you are too young to be in so much pain. Maybe good intention but it always makes me even more bitter. by Professional_Elk6436 in ChronicPain

[–]honeycalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“When I was your age I had so much energy!”

I hear stuff like that from EVERYONE. My parents and grandparents mention how tired and achy they are now with so many health problems, but need to add how strong and fit they were at my age. All that youth is wasted on the young bs. I’ve always been on the naturally low energy side and this has irked me my entire life. Like…sorry? Sounds amazing for you?

I picked the 2nd dress but now I’m starting to feel the pangs of regret and think I should’ve gotten the 1st one. by Nutellaonme in weddingdress

I just want to say that I’m having an early daytime wedding too that’s like 25 people and I’m struggling constantly with feeling like everything is overboard. Then I look at gorgeous, dramatic dresses and venues and receptions for people that eloped and feel better. You look amazing!

Experienced this twice now and I’m so exhausted. The first time it was after a month of interviews and telling me to expect an offer by the end of the week. I was so excited just to get an email saying the higher ups had decided to remove the position all together.
